Baranovichi: sights of the city and its surroundings

The Belarusian city of Baranovichi is located 142 km from the capital of the republic, on the Baranovichi plain, in the interfluve of Shchara and its small tributary Myshanka. The city was founded in 1871. Today it became the administrative and economic center of the Brest region (Belarus). Baranovichi is a city that is known far beyond the borders of the republic by light industry enterprises.

The knitwear of local factories in the USSR was the first to be awarded an international Quality Mark. In addition, the city employs construction, chemical, food and woodworking industries.

The city has a rich history and many interesting places, which are always curiously surveyed by tourists. Get to know some of them.

Sights (Baranovichi): photo with description. Church of Alexander Nevsky

The temple was built on the site of a small cemetery church. In the postwar years, it was demolished due to the change in the layout of the city, and later built a beautiful new temple, calling it in honor of Alexander Nevsky. In 1992, the parish community appeared. The initiator of the construction, and then the rector of the parish and became the dean of the district, Protopriest Alexander Dzichkovsky.

The project of the temple was created by Honored Architect of Belarus LV Makarevich. The construction of the lower church (Euphrosyne of Polotsk) began in 1993. He was consecrated in early June 1995 by Archbishop Stefan. The upper church was built for three years. He was also consecrated in early September 1998 by His Eminence Stefan in honor of Prince A. Nevsky.

Church of St. Zygmunt

It should be noted that the attractions of Baranovichi and the surrounding area attract a lot of tourists to this city. The church of St. Zygmunt Lozinsky is part of the Pinsk Diocese of the Catholic Church of Belarus.

The construction of the church began in 1990, but, due to financial difficulties, it was completed only in 2000. The building is made in the Neo-Gothic style. The facade is lined with decorative brown tiles, on both sides of the entrance there are two towers, the tops of which are crowned by Catholic crosses. The façade part is almost entirely made of glass.

Svetilovskoe lake

Tourists coming to Baranovichi in summer, the sights of the city continue to study in the Northern microdistrict. Here is the favorite vacation spot of citizens - Svetilovskoe Lake and an artificial pond.

All guests are brought here, who want to know the sights available in such a city as Baranovichi. The pedestrian zone in this area is not equipped for swimming, but sunbathing and breathing fresh air near the water is always pleasant in summer heat. In the middle of the pond there is an Island of Lovers. On it there is a gazebo and an elegant tree made of metal, on the branches of which lovers and newlyweds hang locks and colorful ribbons.

Drugstore Regina Apotheke

Very diverse city of Baranovichi. Sights, photos of which we have placed in this article, are different in terms of architectural decision, age, design.

In the late twenties of the last century, a pharmacy opened in Telman Street, opened by the pharmacist Stanislav Laevsky. Since its opening, it has received the name of Regina Apotheke. The first floor of a small bright orange house was occupied by the pharmacy itself, where medicines were sold. On the second floor with his family lived Laevsky.

Pharmacies produced medicines that were delivered to the city hospital. Even in the terrible war years, the pharmacy did not stop working. In 1946, it was nationalized, and the Laevsky family left for Poland.

Most recently in Regina Apotheke was a reconstruction of the project by Sergei Krishtalev - interior designer. The trading hall was renovated. Today, you can see an ancient desk of the reference pharmacy, a tonometer, an old lamp, several copies of old books on pharmaceuticals. On the second floor of the present museum there are rare exhibits related to the pharmacy business.

Baranovichi: sightseeing. What to see?

Memorable sign "About Mother" is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. It would seem that an uncomplicated sculpture of medium size, awakens the warmest and most tender feelings. The monument is dedicated to the great power of maternal love.

An unusually touching commemorative sign is made of light stone. Large, worn out female palms hold a drop of water, on which the face of the baby is depicted. Under the sculpture on the stone an inscription in the Belarusian language is inscribed: "I'm only a drop in your hands, Mummy." This monument almost always contains flowers.

Manor of Adam Mickiewicz

Not only the city monuments are famous for the city of Baranovichi. There are places of interest in its surroundings. Perhaps not everyone knows that the Polish poet Mickiewicz was born in 1798 in Zaosye, not far from Baranovichi.

Before the First World War, the family estate of the Mickiewicz remained in its original form. During the Second World War it was partially destroyed, but fortunately, to date it has been completely restored. Now it is a museum that was opened for the writer's anniversary in 1998.

It is made in the style of the Belarusian peasant architecture. The creation of the interiors was influenced by Mickiewicz's poem "Pan Tadeush", and drawings by E. Pavlovich. All those who visited this museum note that you completely immerse yourself in that distant era, and you will learn a lot of interesting things from the life of a great man.

The layout of the museum-estate "Zaosye" is copied in detail by the nobleman's farm of the 18th-19th centuries. In the center there is a master's house, on the contrary - a barn, a stable and a barn. On the shore of the pond there is a bathhouse, a cellar and a well-crane. In addition, there is also an economic extension (sviran), on the second floor of which the young poet lived in the summer. In the halls of the museum there is a permanent exhibition exposition "Return of Pan Tadeusz".

Monument to the Sparrow

Many visitors can be surprised by the city of Baranovichi. Its sights are not only important for the history of the country. Many of them are quite amusing and capable of cheering up, like, for example, a monument to a sparrow. It was opened in 2003. The author of this project was the sculptor S. Tseliuk.

A nice sparrow is in the center of Baranovichi, on the boulevard Heinola. The bronze sparrow stands on a pedestal, 1.5 meters high. The inscription at his foot (in Belarusian) reads that 2003 is the year of the domestic sparrow. He does not need distant countries, his homeland is closer and dearer to him.

Horse Monument

Another monument to a representative of the local fauna, which can be seen in a city like Baranovichi. Sights of any city never appear on a randomly chosen place. The monument is located at the intersection of Lenin Square and Sovetskaya Street, opposite the Horizon Hotel. It was here in the past that there was an inn, to which the guests could only get on horseback.

The monument was built in 2009. It is made of bronze and represents a saddled horse peacefully grazing on the lawn at the inn, waiting for the owner, who stopped here for a rest.

It's funny that a horse has a saddle, but somehow the stirrups are missing. It turns out that this is a kind of "anti-theft system": they did it so that none of the guests left on a foreign horse. Local residents believe in a sign - having wiped the sculpture by hand, you will attract luck in everything. That's why the horse has polished its sides perfectly.
