Automatic air vent: device and purpose

Almost in every water heating system, sooner or later, the formation of gas accumulations in the pipes starts, which entails incorrect operation and circulation of the coolant. In such a system, there is increased noise and vibration. Moreover, if a circulating pump is installed in the boiler , the ingress of gaseous substances into it can significantly shorten its service life. Together, all this can lead to a complete failure of the heating system and stop normal circulation. In order to prevent this, when constructing such systems, special automatic air vents are used. They remove the excess air formed in the pipes outside, and at the same time do not allow the water to flow out. Thus, the device of these devices is built on the principle of a valve.

Device

By its design, the automatic air vent (Flexvent including) is a float-valve type mechanism, which consists of a brass body. Inside this tool is placed a special float with a spool. The latter is connected to the exhaust valve in a hinged manner. In this case, the locking caps, acting as fuses, prevent unauthorized water leakage in the event of failure of the entire device. Its functions automatic air vents optimally performed at a temperature of -10 to +120 degrees Celsius. And since it is with the boiling of water in the system that gaseous substances are formed, this temperature does not harm the gas venting device, which effectively removes air from the pipes outwards.

Automatic air vents: principle of operation

The algorithm of this mechanism is as follows. When there is no air in the pipe, the float of the air vent is in the upper position, preventing the valve from opening (otherwise water leakage from the unit). The float itself is made of a lightweight polymer material, so when a gas build-up occurs in the system, it gradually descends, collecting air in it, and at the same time, a valve opens. After the required amount of air has been removed from the system, the device rises back to the upper position, and the outlet closes the hole through which the gas passes.

Installation

The automatic corner air vent is installed most often in an upright position at the highest points. It is with this arrangement that the greatest amount of air gets into the device (and, as we know, the gas is lighter than water, and therefore it tends to go up). Getting to the peak point, automatic air vent starts to act and deduce excess accumulation from the system in full. Such mechanisms are mounted on practically all industrial heating systems, heating appliances and boilers. However, it should be noted that its presence is not a prerequisite for the construction of a heating system.
