An ensemble is ... What is an ensemble? Its varieties
An ensemble is a joint performance of a musical composition by several participants. He is vocal, instrumental and dance. An ensemble is also called the musical work itself , intended for a small number of performers. Depending on their number, it can carry different names and be called a quartet, quintet, sextet and so on.
An ensemble can be an independent work that belongs to the field of chamber music. They are found in choral and vocal-symphonic music, as well as in cantatas, operas, oratorios, etc. The name, born in the field of academic music, "migrated" and successfully took root in others. So, for example, in the Soviet music of the 1970s the genre of the vocal-instrumental ensemble VIA was very widespread.
In the dance
Inadmissible and necessary moments for creating a better ensemble
- Party should not be unequal in strength of sound, quality and timbre;
- In the collective composition of singers, a great disproportion should be avoided;
- The presence of "swinging" and "tremolating" voices is highly undesirable;
- The singers should not participate with a sharp "throat", "flat" or "clamped" sound;
- Complicate the work with the ensemble participants who have verbal flaws ("lisp", "cartoon" and others).
Among the necessary points should be noted:
- Singers must have good solo voices;
- All voices should be similar to each other in timbre. Due to this, a more unified and unison sound is formed;
- The right placement of singers within each party. The presence of gradual transitions from lighter votes to heavy ones;
- Quantitative and qualitative balance of parties;
- All singers must have musicality, the ability to listen to each other.
Varieties
The vocal ensemble is of several kinds:
- Altitude-intonation,
- Temporytmichesky,
- Metro-rhythmic,
- dynamic,
- Timbre,
- Agogic,
- Articulatory,
- Homophonic-harmonic,
- polyphonic.
Each of them has its own characteristics. The purpose of the high altitude intonation ensemble is the dense merging of absolutely all voices. The singers of a tempo-rhythmic ensemble are distinguished by the ability to simultaneously begin (complete) the whole work and its individual parts. At the same time, they constantly feel the metric share, sing at a given tempo and accurately convey the rhythmic pattern. The main task of the timbre ensemble is the attentive attitude of the participants towards the general sounding and coloring of the tone. They pay due attention to the proportionality of the shades and the softness of the voices. Dynamic ensemble is first of all the balance of power of voices within each party, and also the consistency of the loudness of sound. Dynamic balance is inextricably linked with tempo-rhythmic and timbre ensembles. Articulation - involves the development of a unified manner of pronouncing the text. The difficulty of a polyphonic ensemble lies in the combination of the unity of the composition plan with the uniqueness of each line. It is equally important to preserve the expressiveness of the second and third plan.
