AMD Radeon HD 6450: overview of the video card

Despite this, budget models do not disappear from the shelves of stores. It is very possible that after a while there will be no need for them, but now there is still a demand for them. This is understood by manufacturers of video cards and try to produce models with good characteristics and affordable price. One of the representatives of the lower segment is AMD Radeon HD 6450.

The accelerator is based on a low-profile printed circuit board of dark blue color, which is inherent in many other models from the company. Characteristics

The HD 6450 is based on the graphics processor Caicos. It is produced according to the norms of 40 nm. Being the basis of the video frame, it acquired 160 shader processors, as well as 4 blocks of rasterization. The core operates at a clock speed of 675 MHz. A 64-bit bus is used that provides data transfer with a speed of 12.8 GB per second.

As already mentioned above, the memory here is made by Samsung, as indicated by the marking on the boards. Its total is 1 GB, the type is GDDR3. The clock speed is 1.8 GHz. Given the effective core frequency of 1.6 GHz, it is possible to produce "overclocking".

Cooling system

If you take into account the characteristics of the video card, then for its normal cooling, a passive system will suffice. The accelerator has a low heat dissipation, but still the case should be well ventilated and free.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer decided to install an active system. It is rather miniature, consists of an aluminum radiator and a small fan. The system was tested by Furmark. For the accuracy of the experiment, the automatic operation mode of the cooler and manual was used.

In the first case, under maximum loads, the accelerator warmed up to 55 degrees, which is an excellent result. In this case, the cooling system worked only on 50% of its capacity. Despite the load, there is practically no noise.

In the second case, the fan speed was set manually. In this mode, the noise of the cooler is heard quite well, but the temperature can be brought down only by 5 degrees.

In normal operation, its power consumption and heat dissipation are automatically reduced. The sound of a working cooler in this state is difficult to distinguish from the sound of other components of the system.
