Portugal is located in the west of the Iberian Peninsula, almost on the outskirts of Europe. Territorial boundaries it has only with Spain - in the east and north. The airport started operating in 1942, and at first there was only a military terminal. But towards the end of the 50s, the Portuguese eliminated this defect, and Portugal's Portela Airport began accepting civilian aircraft. Then in the sixties a major reconstruction was carried out in it, during which the length of the runway was increased and their coverage was changed. But aviation developed, and in the 80s it was necessary to finish building one more terminal to cope with the flow of passengers. And in the 90s this airport became so popular that the planes from here began to fly to almost all the world's capitals.

To date, the airport has two civilian terminals. And through them every month passes more than a million passengers. Also Portugal Portela Airport has two runways with a length of 3.8 and 2.4 kilometers, capable of receiving various types of aircraft. But soon it will go only to domestic flights, as a new and more modern airport is being built in Alkochet, which is planned to be completed in 2015.

And since the opening of the new airport will not happen soon, the tourists, buying tickets to Portugal, will get to Portela. There are post offices and banks, currency exchange points and ATMs, a first aid post and an insurance company branch, a lost property office, showers and bathrooms, there is also a mother and child room.

In addition, Portugal Portela Airport is a place where there are many shops and boutiques. They are located in the main waiting room. Here you can buy fiction and fresh newspapers, elite Portuguese wine and branded sweets, as well as other necessary purchases. And in these trading institutions are accepted the euro, as well as the cards of many European and Russian banks.

Still this airport of Portugal is equipped with a VIP-waiting room, which is in the right wing on the second floor. There is a lounge with TV, internet and upholstered furniture. You can also sleep in a separate room, where there are two beds. In addition, the VIP-room has showers, a bar with a variety of drinks, and for an additional fee, a waiter from cafeterias in the lower hall delivers food here to any of the passengers. Also, there is a scoreboard, which reflects all information about the situation at the airport. However, for staying in this room you need to pay 15 euros per hour.
