Agriculture USA

The North American region, in which the United States is located, has a convenient land structure and large land resources. Unfavorable for agriculture and natural conditions prevail only in Alaska. In the US, along with the nearby Canada, the world's largest and most productive agro-industrial complex has developed. This complex covers all areas of crop production and livestock. The US agriculture is growing steadily and is developing due to the fact that specialized huge agricultural belts have been created here - "corn", "wheat", "tobacco", "cotton" and the like.

Such a developed agriculture allows the United States to be the world leader in the export of food products. This is achieved through mechanization, modern infrastructure and specialization of production. Agriculture in the United States is based on developed farms, which in their work reach almost one hundred percent marketability. The average size of farms in the country is about 50 hectares. Crop production of the USA is the leader of the country's agricultural complex. 2/3 of all areas are occupied by crops of grain crops. The main grain crop is wheat, but fodder crops (corn, sorghum and others) are much larger. The "wheat" belt extends practically throughout the entire country from Texas in the south to the Canadian steppes. Grain harvest is over 90 million tons.

The national culture of the United States is corn, its collection of 256 million tons is almost half of the collection of all countries in the world. The main part of corn is intended for feeding cattle. There is a "corn" belt in the central plains (the states of Illinois, Iowa and the surrounding areas). This is the largest corn district in the world. Among the oil crops, legumes take a special place. Their collection is constantly growing and reaches 70 million tons: it is 3/5 of the world's volume. These crops are used for both livestock feed and nutrition (soybean oil and other products). Also, US agriculture has a long tradition of growing cotton, it was in the 19th century the main export commodity. Cotton is grown in Texas and the southern mountain states on irrigated lands, mainly long-fiber quality varieties are cultivated.

Importance of US agriculture is attached to the cultivation of sugar cane and sugar beet. In the western states, mainly sugar beets are grown, and on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and the Hawaiian Islands, sugar cane is grown, except for it in Hawaii, the main crop is pineapple. In California and Florida, almost all the citrus and flowers are collected. The country ranks first in the world for the production of tobacco. The main area of tobacco cultivation is the state of Virginia with Richmond, which is the "tobacco capital". On the southern coast of the Great Lakes, California has vineyards and large gardens. In addition, the agriculture of the north-east of the USA (the State of Men) is the largest breeding area for blueberries in America.

In total volumes of agricultural production about 2/3 make products of animal industries. This area is highly productive here, as it is provided with a powerful fodder base. US livestock is specialized in the cultivation of beef cattle meat and dairy. Also widespread is the production of pigs, it specializes in "corn" belt. The most industrial area of US agriculture is the cultivation of chicken (broilers), grown to 4 billion broilers per year. US agriculture is of a large scale and produces a variety of products, thus not only providing its own needs in food and technical crops, but also produces large volumes of products for export.
