Wood beetles - how to get rid of them?

What we consider a building material, some insects perceive as a habitual food. It's about wood. Directly eating is not the wood beetles themselves, but their larvae. They produce the sound that sounds like a tapping, which is clearly heard in the silence of the night.

How does such an attack hit the house? Usually, the infected, badly dried and processed lumber is to blame. Female insects lay eggs in a living tree or in a freshly cut log, stored in storage areas. If an unconscientious producer releases such material further on sale, it will appear to you in the form of a building beam or furniture. Another way - buying antiques. Together with a vintage sofa or chairs from the grandmother's headset, you can settle in wood beetles, whose females lay eggs in other wooden products.

Experts identify several types of pests, which in the people were christened by the same name - a wood beetle. Photos depict, as a rule, the most common on the Russian expanses of house-lumberjacks and beetles-grinders. They cause enormous damage. The problem is that it is possible to notice the defeat of the wood only when the larvae have already begun to devour it. On the surface there are round small holes, called outlets, and next to them are observed a handful of the finest wood flour.

The wood beetles themselves usually get under the bark, it will not be difficult to etch them out. Therefore loggers resort to prevention. The timber is dried and treated with chemicals that scare away the females. The most persistent individuals, getting on the etched wood, simply perish. But the destruction of the larvae is already a task is not easy.

A universal remedy for wood beetles has not yet been invented. Fans of proven ways continue to use a concentrated solution of table salt, impregnate wooden surfaces with turpentine or oils. The effectiveness of these measures is not high. However, the degree of harm to the human body of the same mixture of borax with boric acid, carbolic or paraffin is not as high as that of insecticides.

For use in the home, only some chemicals are allowed that are diluted according to the instructions and applied to the holes in the wood with a brush. You can get a syringe, additionally injecting poison into the moves. The larvae clearly will not get excited about this.

You can not use powerful tools used by professionals. Such amateur performance will turn into serious poisoning. If the wood beetles quite badly spoiled your furniture, it is better to replace it with a new one. The house is more complicated. Ignoring the problem is not an option, weakened load-bearing structures present a real threat to the tenants. Complex treatment will help, it is better to entrust it to specialists. In the meantime, those involved in the elimination of pests, should stay with relatives or friends.
