Who is the creator of Microsoft Corporation? Bill Gates and Paul Allen are the creators of Microsoft. History and logo of Microsoft

In the nineties Bill Gates was the most famous person in the world of computer technology and software. Over time, his popularity has become less, as well as the company Microsoft, which he founded with his friend Paul Allen. Despite this, until now, Microsoft is the most famous and successful company, not only in its industry, but also throughout the business world. And it's hard to believe that just over forty years ago this was a small enterprise of two students passionate about programming.

What is Microsoft?

Each time most users start the computer, a four-color checkbox appears on the screen. This is the Microsoft logo, as well as a symbol that the operating system is installed on this device. More sophisticated users know that Microsoft Corporation is the world leader in the production of programs and applications. And not only for computers, but also for consoles, tablets and various mobile phones.

History of Microsoft Corporation in the 70s

As you know, at the origins of Apple stood Jobs and Wozniak. Similarly, two gaming friends, Gates and Allen, are the creators of Microsoft Corporation.

It is worth saying that the middle of the seventies is the time of the beginning of active development of computer technologies. The most surprising thing is that they actually created, and afterwards developed this field, ordinary enthusiastic students. Such were Bill Gates and his fellow-student Allen. Together, the guys tried to spend all their time on computers, writing various programs.

In 1975, Altair released a new device - Altair-8800. The guys were so interested in him that they created for him an interpreter of the then popular computer language "BASIC". The program, written by a couple of students, impressed the owners of the company, and they concluded an agreement with talented guys about the use of their software.

However, in the US, to provide any services for the sale of goods or services, and even more software, you need to have a registered company. So Paul Allen and his friend Bill quickly filed documents and called their company Microsoft Corporation.

Soon the company began to gain momentum. Although for the first year of work the profit was a little over sixteen thousand dollars, in a couple of years the company became so famous that it even opened its representative office in Japan.

Microsoft in the 80's

The eighties brought tremendous changes to the company. In addition to experiments with the logo, there was another important event. The founder of "Microsoft" Allen because of personal problems decided to leave the company.

In the meantime, there is a serious client in the company - IBM. It was for them to create a disk operating system MS DOS on the basis of the already existing and repurchased "Microsoft" from another company. This OS was used by IBM and other companies until 1993.

Without stopping at the achieved, the company was developing a qualitatively new operating system, which was introduced to the world in 1985 and was called Windows. Thanks to this Microsoft product, its creators gained incredible popularity and wealth.

The decade has completed another breakthrough in the field of computer programs. In 1989, the user was introduced to Microsoft Office - an analogue of a typewriter. However, unlike the latter in the new editor, the text was convenient to adjust, change the font, its color and indents. Since then, many similar programs have been created by programmers, but they all originate from here.

Microsoft in the 90's

In the nineties, the company entered a series of successes of the eighties. At this time, Bill Gates, the only creator of Microsoft, left in the company, began to conduct a fairly tough, but at the same time successful policy. Thanks to this, by 1993, Windows became the most popular and used in the world.

To meet the growing needs of users, Microsoft has over the years developed improved versions of the OS: Windows 95 and Windows 98. It is noteworthy that in the ninety-fifth year version, a browser for Internet work has already appeared.

Microsoft in the two thousandth

The new millennium saw the release of new versions of its legendary OS - Windows 2000 and Windows Millenium. Unfortunately, they were not very successful. To be rehabilitated, in 2001, Windows XP, which was loved by many users, was released, which helped Microsoft to remain the leader in the software market.

With the popularity of tablets in 2009, Windows 7 was released. It was not so demanding on the resources of the device and could be used freely on tablets and laptops. It was able to help the company fix the situation after the failed Windows Vista.

Microsoft Today

Despite numerous legal proceedings and fines, the company confidently remains one of the most profitable in the world. And although in 2015, Microsoft earned significantly less than in the previous, its leadership does not give up.

In 2012, a new version of Windows 8 was released, which quickly gained popularity. And in 2015, launched Windows 10.

Microsoft logo and its history

At the dawn of Microsoft, when its young creators were just thinking about registering an enterprise, they planned to take a completely different name. "Allen and Gates" - that's exactly how Paul and Bill wanted to name their company. But soon the guys found such a pathetic name more suitable for the organization providing legal services than for the company that develops and sells computer programs. Then Paul Allen suggested calling their venture a shortening of two words microprocessors (microprocessors) and (software) software. So the name Micro-Soft appeared.

However, in this form it lasted very short and in the fall of 1976 the company Gates and Allen was renamed into Microsoft Corporation.

Approximately in the same period there was also a logo. However, at that time he was little like a multi-colored flag known to the whole world. Initially, the logo of Microsoft was the name of the company, written in two lines in the style of disco.

In 1980, it was decided to change the logo. The inscription began to be written in one line and in style very much reminded the logo of the cult band "Metallica".

Just a year after signing a profitable contract with IBM, it was decided to make a more solid logo. As a result, the name of the company was written in milk on a green background.

In 1987, the company changed its logo again. Now it was all the recognizable black inscription with a fluttering flag. In this form, it lasted twenty-five years, after which it was changed to modern. Now the inscription "Microsoft" for the first time in the history was made in gray, and the developing flag was replaced by a multi-colored square.

The fate of the founder of Microsoft Bill Gates

The legendary creator of Microsoft and his longtime manager Gates was born in 1955 in a well-to-do family corporate lawyer.

During the training in one of the schools in Seattle the boy almost immediately showed the ability to math, and later - to programming. In the biography of Gates there is a well-known fact: when a guy with friends was banned from using a school computer, they simply hacked the system and secured access to it. Later, Gates was punished for this. But soon Bill got a job in the company whose computer was hacked.

After school, he was able to enter the prestigious Harvard. However, after studying there for only two years, flew from there. But the guy was not discouraged, because in the same year he and his friend Paul founded their own company Micro-Soft.

Gates gave thirty years of work to this company until he was forced to leave the post of the company's CEO in 2008, but he retained the chairmanship of the board of directors, as well as a shareholding in Microsoft.

In 2010, he finally quit his company and together with his wife Melinda focused on charity. So, for all these years the Gates have donated almost thirty billion dollars. At the same time the state of Gates is estimated at seventy six billion.

The Life of Paul Allen

A little less rich another creator of Microsoft "- Allen. He has about thirteen billion on his account. And this man was born in 1953 in a less well-off family than Gates.

The boy's father was a librarian, and his mother was a teacher. Despite their modest income, the Allen tried to give their son a good education.

However, when the money was over, Paul left his studies and got a job as a programmer. In his spare time, he and his friend Bill tried to write their own programs. Have not yet decided to organize your company.

Thanks to the irrepressible imagination of its creators, the cases of "Microsoft" went uphill. Over time, Paul focused more on writing programs, and Bill dealt with organizational issues.

In 1983, Paul Allen was diagnosed with cancer. To undergo a full treatment, he left the company, leaving a seat on the board of directors and a block of shares. And when the disease receded, decided not to return there, the benefit of dividends from shares of Microsoft allowed him to lead a comfortable life.

Instead, he took up charity. First of all, help people with cancer and AIDS.

In 2011, Paul Allen wrote a book of memories of Microsoft.

With Bill Gates they continue to be friends to this day.

Over the years, Microsoft and its operating systems have become the true companions of every PC owner. And although there were two people at the source of the company, most of them remembered only one of them. Therefore, the question: "What is the name of the creator of Microsoft?" - Everyone will answer: "Gates." And rarely anyone will add: "Allen". But despite this historical injustice, Windows fathers are now both wealthy people, successfully engaged in charity. And most importantly, for all these years they were able to maintain friendship.
