When the snowdrops bloom, nature wakes up

Despite the fact that the fields are still covered with a white snow blanket, the spring still clearly presents its rights. And in order to establish itself in her power, she is the first to produce white flowers - snowdrops. With inimitable stamina, the harbingers of spring break through the snow and stubbornly reach for the sun. Though they are fragile and tender in appearance, however, any plant can envy their insistence and an irresistible desire to live. At a time when the snowdrops are blooming, the whole nature comes to life after long winter days: snow melts, murmured streams, rings under the windows of drops.

Where the snowdrops grow

It is impossible to unequivocally answer the question about where the snowdrops bloom. The geographical range of their growth is quite large: they grow in the territory of Asia Minor, Central and Southern Europe, but most of the number of flowers inhabits the mountain valleys of the Caucasus. The one who was in these parts at the time when snowdrops are blossoming, probably noticed how with the appearance of these fragile snow-white inflorescences comes to life nature. But, despite its beauty and resistance to climatic extremes of temperature, they are quite capricious and prefer open sunny meadows - a place where you can safely grow. The duration of their flowering is only two to three decades, depending on climatic conditions.

How to determine the growing season

In nature there are more than 12 types of gallant (snowdrops), and half of them are listed in the red book. At a time when the snowdrops bloom, you can determine their growing season, which depends on location and climatic conditions. If you cut a flower's bulb along, you can find out the time of his life. The section shows that it consists of the number of scales of previous years of life. Each year there are 3 flakes, one of which grows from the bottom sheet, and two others - from the bottom of the assimilating leaves. From each neck bulbs come 3 leaves with pointed tips.

How do the snowdrops multiply

Let's look at not only how the snowdrops bloom, but also how they multiply. A snow-white flower about 20 cm in size, with a subtle, barely perceptible pleasant smell, appears on the surface of the earth simultaneously with two linear green leaves that have their own individual surface. Some have a dead end, others have a smooth one, others have a folded one. For reproduction, galanthus have rounded fruits in the form of fleshy capsules, divided into compartments, each containing several small black seeds. At the end of flowering a ripe box opens from below, and all the seeds fall to the ground. And then the ants carry them to different points of the earth. After the expiration of the period when the snowdrops bloom, their bulbs again are stocked with useful substances. And white spring flowers are gaining strength for growth in the new season.

Why do they bloom early?

And now let's find out why snowdrops early blossom? They appear on white light before other plants, because they belong to the category of bulbous ones, which usually grow first themselves, and then the grass is shown around them. Due to the appearance of floral arrows from the root, they do not need to waste their time and energy on the individual appearance of the flower. Its bookmark occurs in the summer, so the snowdrops live very little and quickly leave for another hibernation until the next flowering.
