What should I do if the XP language bar disappears?

Quite often there are situations when the user sees that he has lost the XP language panel . Therefore, it will be very useful to get acquainted with the main ways to eliminate this little problem.

First of all, you should right-click on the Windows taskbar located at the bottom of the desktop. In the menu that opens, select the "Taskbar" section and see if the "Language bar" checkbox is checked. If it does not exist, you just need to activate this setting with the left mouse button.

If this simple method does not help, then the user has not just lost the language bar icon, and the service that is responsible for displaying it on the system does not work. In this case, you need to go to the "Control Panel" and select the "Language and Regional Standards" section. Then you need to click the tab "Languages" and "More Info". In the opened window you can see the keyboard layouts involved in the system, and at the bottom there will be the "Language bar" key. Clicking on it, you can see the active settings. If the checkbox is not selected in the "Show ..." box, the user usually only needs to put it there to have access to managing this option from the desktop.

However, the situation when the XP language panel disappeared , can be connected with the disabling of one important system function. In such cases, the "Language bar" button will be inactive, and the user will need to go to the "Advanced" tab, where you want to deselect the item "Turn off additional text ..."

The methods described above will help in those cases when the system file Ctfmon.exe, responsible for displaying the language bar in Windows, is not corrupted. If the situation when the XP language panel disappeared due to the fact that this element of the system is deleted or modified, it will be necessary to restore it. Problems with this file can be the result of a system crash or the presence of a virus on the user's computer.

In such cases, you must first determine whether Ctfmon.exe is on the computer. You can find it in the "system32" directory, which is located in the Windows folder. If it was not found there, then it is necessary to find and install it. There are several ways for this:

- download on the Internet;

- Copy from the system where it is;

- put the boot disk in the drive and write "sfc / SCANNOW" in the command line.

The latter way will help not only solve the problem, which lost the XP language panel, but in many other cases, as the system will check the presence of all its important elements.

After you have restored the file, you need to restart the computer. As a rule, Ctfmon.exe runs the language bar on its own at the start of Windows, and then continues its work in the background. To check the availability of the corresponding process, you need to use the task manager, which can be started by pressing the Cntrl + Alt + Del buttons. If there is no process in the list, Ctfmon.exe should be written to the command line and click "OK", which will activate the required service.

It should be noted that the causes and methods of fighting are similar for other versions of Windows, so if the user has lost the Vista or Seven language panel, the steps described above will help fix this problem.
