How to format a hard disk via BIOS?

With the active use of a personal computer, a variety of situations may arise, requiring responsible decisions. In some unforeseen situations, the only way out is formatting. And many users are seriously asking themselves how to format the hard drive via the BIOS. Nowadays some people somehow think that this is impossible, but this statement is not true. This opinion is provoked by the fact that for this formatting requires floppy disks, which are now obsolete. So, how to format the hard drive via BIOS?

First step

Of course, first you need to insert a floppy disk into the drive. After opening the control panel, which can be found in the Start menu, you must find and select the option to install and uninstall programs and components of the Windows operating system. Disks for the computer can be for different purposes. In this case, we need a boot. In the opened window, click on the corresponding "Bootable disk" tab and click on the "Create" button. To perform this action is quite simple, for this, follow the instructions that appear.

Second step

Now you need to completely turn off your PC, insert the floppy disk into place and turn on the computer again. In the event that the BIOS has the option to boot the system from the hard disk, you should change it to boot from a flexible magnetic disk. To do this, just before the system is booted, press the "Del" button, which allows you to enter the BIOS. Next, open the "Advanced BIOS Features" item, which displays several sub-items. In this menu, in addition to a floppy disk and CD, there may be several partitions with hard disks. This is because hard drives for PCs can be installed in a computer in the amount of two or more pieces. We need the item "First Boot Device". Using the "PgDn" and "PgUp" keys, you should put the "Floppy" line in the first place. Now close the window with the "Esc" key and exit the BIOS with data saving by pressing the "F10" button. After the done actions the system will first of all load a floppy disk, and not a hard disk.

Third step

After loading the PC, a menu will appear on the screen, in which the cursor keys should select the following item: "No. 2. Start computer with CD-Rom Support". The selection must be confirmed by pressing the enter key. After a few seconds of loading, the command line "A: \ ^" will blink at the bottom of the screen. Now you should type Format C: and confirm with the enter key again. Instead of the C drive, you can format any other, you just need to change the letter in the command. For example, the formatting of drive D will be called by the following command: Format D :. After confirming the command, a warning will appear that all files from this disk will be irretrievably erased. Press the enter key again to confirm. But remember that formatting completely destroys all your data on the selected disk. After the done procedure, it will be impossible to restore them. Therefore, before formatting the hard disk via the BIOS, the files needed in the future must be previously saved to any external media.
