What border checkpoints does Belarus have? Borders of the Republic of Belarus

The Republic of Belarus (Byelorussia) is a modern European state with a population of almost nine and a half million people (at the beginning of 2016). In terms of the area of its own territories, the country occupies the 84th place in the world (207 600 km 2 ) and is divided into six regions. The capital of the state, the city of Minsk, formally is the seventh region and has a special status of the city being in the republican subordination. By form of government, Belarus is a presidential republic. Alexander Lukashenko, the current president of the republic, has held the post of head of state for more than 20 years (since July 20, 1994).

Borders

Belarus is the largest European state that does not have its own access to the sea. In the east, the republic borders with the Russian Federation, and in the west with Poland. In the southern territories the state is bordered by Ukraine, and on the north - with the Baltic: for tourists open both Lithuanian and Latvian border crossings. Belarus also has several border checkpoints operating under a simplified scheme (for residents of border areas).

Warsaw Bridge

In Belarus, there are several toll highways. One of them, the M1 highway, is part of the European route E30, stretching from the Irish city of Cork to the Russian city of Omsk. It also passes through Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and through the Schengen border crossings "Belarus-Poland", goes beyond the territory of the European Union. The main one is the international checkpoint "Warsaw Bridge" (Brest-Terespol), through which the route E30 passes.

The international status imposes some peculiarities on the mode of its work. It is open around the clock (like most border crossings), but the passage of the border is prohibited for any truck transport, as well as for cars with trailers that have more than one wheel pair (axle). This also applies to all trailer-dachas and cabinets. Moreover, at this point the most thorough control of entry. Cars streamed to a special box for a full inspection with the involvement of police dogs trained to find narcotic substances.

Bypassing Brest

However, there are other border crossings "Belarus-Poland". All cargo vehicles pass the border to the pier "Kozlovichi", located just north of Brest. The point works round the clock, passenger cars, including those with any trailers, are not allowed. All those wishing to save time are offered the opportunity to descend 40 kilometers south of Brest and cross the border through the "Domachevo-Slavatyce" subway station. Here, any traffic, including freight, is missed, at any time of the day or night. And the inspection is not as serious as at an international point. Although in the past two years, in connection with the worsened economic and political situation in the world, the inspections are becoming more thorough, which increases the time for passage through the border crossings. Belarus has seriously strengthened control in this area.

To Poland

It is also possible to get to Poland through the passenger p / p "Peschchatka-Polovtsi", p / p "Berestovitsa-Bobrovniki" and p / p "Bruzgi-Kuznitsa Bialystokskaya". Each of them works around the clock and skips any type of road transport with any type of trailer. The first two are north of Brest, and the last - in Grodno. In connection with the absence of nearby large international routes, there are almost no queues there, and p / p work with amazing throughput. The border can be traversed in 15-20 minutes, unlike the "Warsaw Bridge", where you can lose up to 10-12 hours, especially on holidays.

The road to Shengen is also opened by pedestrian border crossings. Belarus allows its citizens residing in the border areas to cross this very border by a simplified scheme. Unlike other p / n, you can get to Europe here not only by car, but also on foot. This border crossing lies almost exactly in the middle between the Sandstone and Berestovitsa: p / n "Pererov-Bialowieza."

To Lithuania

The border crossings "Lithuania-Belarus" are also open at any time of the day for everyone who wants to get to the Baltic States. There are only four of them, and each of them has the status of an international one. The busiest of them is the "Kamenny Log-Medinenkay" p / p, which is located in the Grodno region. And this is not surprising, because there is a route connecting the Baltic countries with Minsk and Ukraine. For those who want to reduce the time of passage, even at the cost of extra kilometers, it is offered the opportunity to try this through the b / n "Benyakoni-Shalchininkai" and the "Kotlovka-Lavorykesh". Although the border crossings "Lithuania-Belarus" have always been famous for too slow and long process, especially from the Balts, who like to miss their cars outside the main stream. A similar situation is observed in the Privalka-Raygardas settlement. Although the machine flow is minimal, it can be lost several hours.

To Latvia and to Russia

The way to Latvia runs through the Vitebsk region. It is there that around the clock international border crossings. Belarus can be left through the Urbany-Silene settlement or the Grigorovschina-Paternieki subway station. With Russia, the republic has an agreement on a friendly customs union, so the border with the Russian Federation can be freely crossed any time in any direction to every resident from the territory of this union. Foreign citizens now require a visa to enter the Russian Federation. This rule is carefully monitored by Russian border guards. Border crossings "Belarus-Russia" can be found on the P46, P132, E95, P112, P21, M1 (E30), M73, P43, P75 and other routes.

To Ukraine

However, Belarus has the most checkpoints with its southern neighbor. The border crossings "Belarus-Ukraine" were dispersed on almost every route that connects both countries. You can get to Ukraine through the villages of Veselovka, Nova Guta, Komarin, Aleksandrovka, Novaya Rudnya, Glushkevichi, Upper Terebezhov, Nevel, Dolsk, Mokrany, Oltush and Tomashovka. All of them work around the clock and skip any types of vehicles.

It should also be taken into account that now all the border crossings "Belarus-Ukraine" work with an extended time interval in connection with a more thorough examination of goods and personal items from both the Belarusian and Ukrainian sides.
