The stimulus to the appearance of a series of shotguns of the Vepr-12 line, produced with the factory index "VPO-205", was the growing popularity of Siiga's store semi-automatic devices of the Izhmash plant, with smooth canal bores. At that time, it was precisely such a weapon that demand exceeded supply. However, over time smooth-bore "Saiga" began to cause more and more negative reviews. Judging by them, this product of the Izhevsk plant often jammed.

Based on the needs of the market, the managers of the Molot plant from Vyatskiye Polyan also concluded: it is possible to start the production of the same smoothbore carbine. As a result, the production of rifles "Vepr-12", which differed from Izhmash's analogues, was established.

Prerequisites for the emergence

The family "Saiga" was created on the basis of the Kalashnikov assault rifle. The reason is that it was at this plant that AK guns were manufactured, so setting up civilian constructive analogues was not a problem. And in the town of Vyatskie Polyany at the same time, the machine guns of the PKK came off the assembly line . The main differences between AK74 and RPK74 were their weight and dimensional characteristics, as well as the strength of the structure. The machine gun was much stronger than the machine, had more powerful than the AK, the receiver and more "survivable" mechanisms, which were manufactured with a margin of safety, exceeding the analogous parameters of its Izhevsk analogue.

In the process of developing smoothbreaking "Vepr-12" were immediately laid down the main options for its use. Presumably, these were self-defense and sports shooting with grape shot, according to the IPSC version. It was intended to use this shotgun both as a weapon for policemen, and for shooting off the average beast and large game.

Design

The layout of the weapon "Vepr-12 Molot", as well as the basic principles of operation, is closest to the corresponding parameters of the "Saiga-12C" or "Saiga-12K" models. But if we draw more precise parallels, the most similar to it is the Izhevsk "Tactics".

The fly on almost all models of shotguns "Vepr-12 Hammer" is fixed at the end of the gas pipe. The target is adjustable, has the ability to fix positions for different distances, and also based on types of ammunition. The sight line is relatively short.

Experts consider this weapon to be one of the most "strong" semi-automatic shotguns not only in our country, but all over the world. To the minuses of the "Vepr-12" weapon, the testimonies confirm this fact, including the presence of a regular Picatinni strap located on the lower part of the forearm: it makes the holding of this shotgun very uncomfortable. But the main drawback is still mass. Even without any additional options, with an empty magazine, the base product weighs at least 4.3 kilograms. But in some cases, this minus goes into a plus: such a heavy weapon does not "shake", it behaves more steadily, in particular, in the quick-fire mode.

Modifications

The basic model in this lineup is Vepr-12 / VPO-205-00 /. He has a short trunk with a length of four hundred and thirty millimeters. Taking into account the fact that this type of shotgun has a folding type of butt, the manufacturer was forced to introduce in this model the locking mechanisms of the USM, triggered when the stock is folded. This made it possible to exclude shooting from weapons in this state, since it is prohibited according to the law of the Russian Federation.

Another modification - "Vepr-12 Hammer" version 02 - is equipped with the longest row in the row - sixty-eight centimeters. It does not have a DTK, although the manufacturer provides for the possibility of installing replaceable muzzleheads on threads with different constrictions. The latter are sold with the given shotguns "Vepr-12 Molot", the price for which starts at thirty-five thousand rubles, besides they are similar to the "chokes" from the line "Bekas", which is produced by the same plant HPE. Some users, conducting a comparative analysis between the weapons of "Vepr-12", whose reviews are mostly positive, and Izhevsk "Saiga", note that the plant in Vyatskiye Polyany in its products are more thoughtful. The conveniences with which their 12-caliber carbines of modification 12 HP 205 (for example, the possibility of setting or removing from the fuse without touching the key, but by pressing the finger on the lever and many others), are evidence of a serious constructive reasonableness.
