Vacuum aspiration

Despite the fact that we live in the 21st century, scientists have not yet invented a means that guarantees 100% protection against unwanted pregnancies. Therefore, women still have to interrupt it artificially. In such a situation, vacuum aspiration is the most optimal way out. In addition to abortion, this method of therapy has been used for many years in gynecological practice with a diagnostic and therapeutic purpose.

Vacuum aspiration for medicinal purposes is used to remove pus, inflammatory fluid and blood from the uterine cavity. It is most often used with endometritis. For diagnostic purposes, it is also used frequently. With the help of this small operation, the liquid and particles of the mucous membrane, used for laboratory tests, are taken from the uterus. Inflammatory fluid is studied in microbiological laboratories, determining the causative agents of infection, and also establishing the degree of their sensitivity to different antibacterial drugs.

Samples of tissues are examined in a histological laboratory. Thus, oncological diseases are detected at an early stage. Often a histological examination is carried out to monitor the condition of a woman during treatment with hormonal drugs. The therapeutic and diagnostic vacuum aspiration has practically superseded such a widespread operation as scraping of the uterus. It is a less traumatic method, giving a minimal number of complications (such as inflammation, bleeding and perforation of the uterine wall).

Returning to vacuum aspiration, as the least traumatic method of abortion, it is worth noting that its use is possible in the early stages of pregnancy. Such mini-abortions are performed only up to 5 weeks. This method of removing the embryo is based on the ability of introducing a fertilized cell into the uterine wall. According to research, it was found that it is at this time that the embryo does not have time to penetrate deeply into the tissue. This gentle method of abortion in the uterus creates a uniform negative pressure, so that the fertilized egg is fairly easily removed.

The procedure itself is performed without dilating the cervix. A disposable, thin catheter connected to the suction is inserted into the female's internal genitalia. Through this tube and the fetal ovum is removed. Vacuum aspiration is carried out under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting and almost does not cause complications. The doctor watches the operation through the ultrasound monitor. After this procedure, there is almost never a copious discharge of blood. The whole operation lasts 5-7 minutes. After it, you must again carry out ultrasound. Despite this, it is still a stress for the female body, because it is an artificial termination of pregnancy, with the consequent consequences (hormonal changes, emotional experiences).

In modern vacuum aspirators increased reliability. In them, it is possible to regulate the power, which allows them to be used for various purposes. To date, vacuum aspiration, which is mostly positive, is almost the only way to minimize the consequences of abortion. For this reason, women with suspected unwanted pregnancies should take special tests and, if necessary, immediately consult a doctor for a mini-abortion. Before vacuum aspiration, it will be necessary to perform standard analyzes and ultrasound. Do not perform this procedure in the presence of gynecological infectious diseases.
