Two-leaved meadow - forest decoration

general description

The double-leaved meadow is the most widespread in the mixed and coniferous forests of the temperate belt of the Northern Hemisphere. The plant is distinguished by fragrant white flowers, which form a racemose apical inflorescence. Its fruits are red berries. Rhizome in Maynik has a long thin form, which provides a fairly rapid establishment of colonies. From the roots develop above-ground shoots. On the stem are two heart-shaped leaves. The double-leafed mayy, whose photo is located below, grows in large parts of the thickets, which for many years keep under their trees their location.

Flowers

Maynik is a relative of the tulip, lily of the valley and lily. At first glance, it's hard to believe, but it does belong to a family like the lily, even though the structure, shape and size are very different from other species.

During the flowering period in the forest, the plant stands out very much against the others. Despite its fragility and diminutiveness, white flowers always attract attention. The inflorescences that cover the two-leaved may have a fairly simple structure. Thin pedicels branch off in all directions from the main axis. Moreover, each of them can boast the presence of a separate flower, in which much is original. Here, first of all, we should note the small petals bent downwards, which do not close the pistil and stamens at all. The last elements can be very well considered, because they are as if on a pedestal. The number of petals corresponds to the number of stamens and is equal to four, while the pestle is only one.

One can not but note the nuance that there are no sepals in the flowers covering the plant. In this regard, botanists study petals on such flowers only as simple tepals.

Fruit

The period of fruit development in the plant starts after the flowering. Initially, in the places of the arrangement of the flowers small green balls are formed, which eventually develop to a large, covered with red small dots of a pellet. Even later, the two-sheeted points overlapping one another and increasing in their parameters. As a result, they get a bright red color in the fall, resembling cranberry fruits from a distance, only in miniature. Eaten them categorically prohibited, because these berries are poisonous.

Wintering

The leaves of the plant begin to turn yellow and dry at the end of August. At this time, the stalk remains in its place, on its top for some time the berries are stored. This lasts until frosts. The double-leaved winter tree retains only the root system for winter, the threads of which have a thickness less than a match. There are also small, small buds, from which spring shoots will begin in the spring. It should be noted that one of them will be vegetative shoots that have one leaf, and others - flowering with two familiar sheets.
