Tu-214 - the first Russian airliner that meets modern international requirements

Tu-214 became the logical continuation of the 204th project of the Design Bureau named after Tupolev, work on which began in 1973. Over the past decades the elemental base of the world aircraft instrument industry has changed, more efficient and in all respects perfect power units have appeared, but the general concept of a twin-engine monoplane with a swept low wing has remained unchanged. Moreover, it was this scheme that proved its viability in the world aircraft industry.

If the 204th, which became the prototype of the liner, was conceived as a simple medium-haul passenger liner, the Tu-214 has an increased range of flight, allowing it to extend to longer trails in a radius of over 4,300 kilometers.

The general designer of this aircraft was Yuri Vorobyev. In March 1996, the prototype was lifted into the air, and four years later the collective of the Kazan aircraft plant began assembling the first serial copy.

Tu-214 has successfully passed certification, which proves its full compliance with all the norms, stipulated by the international rules of air transportation.

Actually, when launching this project in the series, much was done in the domestic aircraft building industry for the first time. The loading of standard LD containers is provided, for which the cargo hatchways are increased, the noise reduction requirements are taken into account, the internal volume is enlarged due to the reduction of the floor height, the number of doors is brought to three.

The chassis has been strengthened, in addition, Michelin tires have been used, which was done for the first time in the production of domestic aircraft.

The control system, especially the steering wheels, which were equipped with automation (ASHU) underwent significant modernization.

Leveling Tu-214 in the event of dangerous rolls and trim is automatic, which means that the aircraft forgives many piloting mistakes.

The airliner, possessing all the advantages of a modern passenger aircraft and not inferior to foreign analogues at a more affordable price, did not go unnoticed by carriers, primarily Russian ones. Already in 2001, Dalavia acquired two Tu-214s. Transaero, Vladivostok Air, Kavminvodyavia, Cairo Aviation, Cubana, Vnukovo Airlines and the Russian Air Force also became operators of this aircraft both on domestic and international routes. Ability to carry up to 210 passengers, the presence of the "Imperial" luxury lounge make this liner the analogue of the Airbus 321 and Boeing 757.

In the tourist class, the chairs are arranged in three rows in two rows. In this case, to increase or decrease the length of each of the salons is very easy, the partition between them is very easily transferred. The capacity of the closed luggage compartment for each passenger is 52 liters. You can also enter the third class. Thus, depending on market conditions, the air carrier decides which price policy to choose on each specific route.

Foreign companies also showed interest in the Tu-214. Photos of this aircraft with the logo of DHL and some other cargo and passenger carriers are widespread and prove that the liner is in demand on the world airplane market.
