Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val: schedule, ticket prices, directions

To visit Moscow and not to visit the Tretyakov Gallery is just blasphemy. It is certainly one of the main symbols not only of the capital, but of all Russia. Exhibits displayed in exhibition halls are real masterpieces and property of our state. About the magnificent paintings that are stored in this museum, it is known in all corners of the world. Therefore, almost every one of the excursion routes around the capital, organized for tourists from different cities of Russia and other countries, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow occupies the main place.

A bit of history

The main building of the museum is located in Lavrushinsky Lane, Zamoskvorechye. In 1851 this house was purchased by the Tretyakov family. The head of this wealthy merchant family, Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov, later founded the famous Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. Initially, the exposition included only a few paintings, purchased at the expense of the merchant himself - a passionate lover of painting. Pered of particular passion, he fed to Perov's canvases and ordered from him for his house one picture after another. Later, when the collection acquired a solid size, the merchant decided to give his "wealth" to his native city. Such is the history of the creation of this unique museum, which absorbed brilliant examples of creativity of Russian artists 19-20, and now 21 centuries.

Tretyakov Gallery on the Crimean Val

In the Soviet era, the museum, like all other cultural facilities of the capital, passed under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the country. With the accumulation of a large number of exhibits, the Tretyakov House, despite its impressive size, could not fully place all the paintings, and several new premises had to be attached to it. In addition, the Ministry of Culture decided to divide the entire exposition into two parts: pre-Soviet and Soviet. And, the last decided to place in a new building, the construction of which began in the 60's of the 20 th century. However, like any Soviet construction, it took a protracted character and was completed in about 20 years, in the mid-80s. So the Tretyakov Gallery on the Crimean Val was created.

Features of the museum building and location map

The full address of the gallery: metro stations Park Kultury or Oktyabrskaya, Krimsky Val, 10. To avoid getting lost and quickly find a museum, it is best to use underground transport, but you can also get there by trolley (number 10). A long building stretches along the embankment towards the Kremlin. This white two-story pavilion is a typical example of Soviet architecture and has the appearance of an ordinary rectangle with panoramic windows. The authors of the project are Yu.N. Sheverdyaev and N. P. Sukoyan. According to the author's idea, the building, located on the Moskva River embankment, was to be a continuation of the Gorky Central Recreation and Culture Park towards the Moscow Kremlin. As a result, its height should not exceed a certain height (8 meters), so as not to block the historical buildings. Therefore, the architects-designers came to a mutual decision - to build a two-story building. It also conceived a through colonnade, which was to pass along the entire perimeter of the lower floor.

The museum was repeatedly criticized in the light of the fact that in its interior and exterior there is nothing remarkable.
