Transmission VAZ-2109 and its tuning

The VAZ-2109 gearbox is a complex technical mechanism, without which the machine can not move even a meter. At the moment there are many so-called "tuned" gearboxes that have a modified filling and different gear ratios. However, not every transmission will be able to match the driver to his specific driving style. Therefore, many craftsmen independently refine this detail with the help of special tools. In this article, we will look at how the transmission on the VAZ-2109 is being finalized.

Why is it necessary to increase the speed?

The main goal of our improvement is the increased overclocking dynamics. And in order for the VAZ to fly along the roads, it is necessary at least to increase the engine's rotational speed, that is, to make the arrow of the tachometer to be at the maximum maximum values. In principle, it is not difficult to improve the dynamic characteristics - it is enough simply to refine transmission ratios (as will be done, we will consider just below). It is best to make the difference between them extremely small. Then, when switching stages from a lowered to an increased gearbox, the VAZ-2109 will not severely curtail engine speed - they will remain practically at the same level. Due to this, the motor will again have the optimum torque, which, in turn, contributes to the rapid acceleration of the machine.

Of course, the developers of the "nine" accounted for all these moments when constructing the checkpoint, but still not very ideal units came off the assembly line. Such a gearbox VAZ-2109 had large slips between neighboring gears. The most important defect, which was noted by motorists, is the increased wear of the synchronizer of the 2nd stage. The reason for this was the very gear ratio. In general, the standard value of these indicators varies from 3.7 on the first gear and up to 4.1 on the fifth gear. In order to refine such a transmission and make the car dynamic, it is enough simply to install in the crankcase of the gearbox the tuned "pairs" with the following values:

  • The first transfer is 4.33.
  • The second is 4.5.
  • The third stage is 4.7.
  • The fourth is up to 5.0.
  • And the fifth can reach the mark to 5.125.

In this case, do not forget that the "nine" is a front-wheel drive car, and its differential is in the transmission itself. This arrangement of the part contributes to reduced tire wear and better maneuverability. And if you install such "pairs" in a box, there will be neither one nor the other. Therefore, in order to avoid unpleasant consequences, it is necessary to replace the differential from the standard one to the self-locking one. Then the car will be not only powerful, but also maneuverable, and about the repair of the gearbox VAZ-2109 can be forgotten for the next few years.

What do we get as a result?

After finalizing the gear ratios, you can get a fast car that can be operated not only on the road, but also in the city. Perhaps the only drawback of this tuning is that the VAZ-2109 gearbox will not develop the car to the passport "max.". Although many car owners are satisfied with such a change in gear ratios, as the acceleration of VAZ is comparable with any sports car. And this is a serious indicator.
