The Simbirsk Metropolis. Its goals, composition and activities

The Ulyanovsk region has always stood out as a yearning for Orthodoxy and a high level of spiritual life. After all, in its territory there are many temples and churches, which are visited daily by a large number of parishioners.

There are also many male and female monasteries, in the walls of which hundreds of novices live and pray. One of the steps aimed at increasing the level of spirituality in the region was the creation of the Simbirsk Metropolis. It was composed of three dioceses.

Purpose of creation

The Simbirsk Metropolis was formed by the decision of the Holy Synod in July 2012. It included the Melekesse, Simbirsk and Barysh dioceses. The new metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church is located in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region.

It was created to implement the decision taken in 2011 by the Bishops' Council. It consists in the fact that the spiritual life should actively develop not only in large, but also in small settlements. At present, more than 200 parishes are part of the newly created Simbirsk Metropolia, and, according to statistics, their number will only grow.

For this reason, the bishop is physically unable to visit and carefully examine the life of each church or church. To fix this, the Simbirsk Metropolitanate was formed, which includes three dioceses. All of them are located in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region.

Barysh Diocese

The Barishsky diocese includes, in addition to the same name, Nikolayevsky, Bazarnosyszgan, Inzensky, Pavlovsky, Starokulatsky, and Radischevsky districts. Bishop Filaret, who headed the Zhadovsky Monastery, was elected bishop. The city of Barysh became the center of the new education.

Melekess Diocese

Another diocese of the Simbirsk Metropolis is the Melekess. It included, in addition to the same name, Novomalyklinsky, Dimitrovograd, Staromayinsky, Sengileevsky, Cherdaklinsky, Terengulsky districts.

The city of Dimitrovograd was chosen as the center of the new diocese. It is in him is the bishop, who heads it.

Simbirsk Diocese

The third diocese of the metropolia is Simbirsk. It consists of the regional center - the city of Ulyanovsk, as well as the Sursky, Veshkaym, Kuzovat, Karsun, Main, Tsilninsky, Novospassky districts.

All the aforementioned dioceses form the Simbirsk Metropolia. It includes the entire Ulyanovsk region. The first head of the Simbirsk Metropolis was Archbishop Proclus. He simultaneously performs the duties of the head of the Melekess Diocese.

Activities

The Simbirsk Metropolis pays great attention to the development of spirituality among the inhabitants of the Ulyanovsk region. To this end, various educational activities are held, in which priests and diocesan leaders take part.

Much attention is paid to work among young people. Priests do their best to instill in them faith in God, to bring them closer to Orthodoxy, and to increase their spirituality. To this end, meetings with schoolchildren, universities, colleges, etc. are regularly held.

With many churches, temples and monasteries, there are Sunday schools, where not only children are trained, but also adults. Excursions to places where the saints of the Simbirsk metropolia, such as Gabriel Melekessky, lived. The newspapers are issued monthly to cover the activities of the dioceses.

Much time is spent in the metropolitan area in the military units and colonies located on the territory of the region. They regularly go to the clergy of the dioceses, who hold divine services there. Thanks to this, people's spirituality not only increases, but the way of their life changes for the better. They become kinder, try to keep all the commandments. In many colonies and military units there are chapels, in which there is always a clergyman.

The Simbirsk Metropolis holds an annual religious procession for all major Orthodox holidays. Not only clergymen and parishioners of the dioceses take part in it, but also many residents of the region. During the processions, icons and various church relics are carried out, many of which are with the relics of saints.

Scandal

Despite the fact that the Simbirsk Metropolitanate was established relatively recently, a scandal has already erupted in it. He was associated with the appointment of a new metropolitan. It turned out that Anastasia numerous parishioners standing near the temple, met with angry shouts. Because of this, he quickly went to church, covering his face with an icon and being guarded by Cossacks who did not allow parishioners to join him.

This attitude is due to the fact that when he headed the Kazan Metropolitanate, he was involved in a loud scandal involving the accusations of priests in sexual harassment. Also on this background, we recalled also the numerous old testimonies, in which it is directly stated that Anastassy is a homosexual. To this the whole of the Simbirsk Metropolis was negative. The scandal is not going to subside yet. In addition, it became known that Anastasiya for a long time living with a young guy.

Despite the fact that such evidence is not backed up by accurate evidence, this casts suspicion on Anastasia. Simbirsk parishioners are not happy with his appointment.

Nevertheless, it is expected that after the creation of the new metropolis, the spiritual life in the Ulyanovsk region is significantly intensified. To do this, much is being done by clergymen with the full support of local authorities.
