Protein in urine. The reasons can be varied

The normal content in the urine of the protein is the presence of the protein whey fraction, which is filtered through the walls of the capillaries in the kidneys. Normally the indicator should not exceed 0.002 g / l, if you are passing the usual analysis in the morning. For a day 50-150 mg of protein in the urine is the norm. But its excess and elevated protein in the urine, the causes of such abnormalities should be carefully examined in the clinic, especially if the protein is elevated in a pregnant woman.

The mechanism of the process, in which there is an increase in the amount of protein passed by the basal membrane of the kidneys, is complex enough. Hyaluronidase takes part in it. This enzyme, along with other functions, cleaves mucopolysaccharides in the blood serum. The increase in its activity increases the permeability of the walls of the capillaries and the permeability of the membrane, which begins to pass through the protein molecules.

When there is a protein in the urine, the causes can be true (renal) and false (extrarenal). The falsity or truth of the disease, its belonging to a temporary or chronic process can only be established by doctors.

Why is the protein in the urine

The basis of synthesizing proteins in the human body is gene information. It exists in the human genes in an encoded form. A complex chain of transportation, synthesis, retransmission and a certain sequence of these processes leads to the correct existence and functioning of proteins in the body. Violation at one of the stages of a complex chain of successive transformations of protein into energy, which regulates and organizes their work, leads to the appearance of a protein in the urine.

The causes of such a disorder can be caused by temporary or stable factors, caused by the disorder of a function in the body. It is impossible to give an exhaustive answer to the question of why the protein is in the urine, without conducting comprehensive examinations.

An increase in the level of protein can contribute to disorders of the renal circulation:

  • Anomalies in the development of the renal vein;
  • Changes due to toxic effects on the walls of capillaries in the kidneys;
  • Change under the influence of drugs (immoderate or unskilled reception);
  • Disturbances in the activity of the renal tubules;
  • Hereditary and congenital diseases.

If the protein in the urine is present for a long time, the causes can be in various diseases of the body, such as diseases of the digestive system, severe forms of anemia, the effects of burns, injuries, hypothermia, physical exertion or background emotions. In this case, the disease is temporary, together with the elimination of the cause, the protein leaves the urine.

The permanent (or long-term) presence of protein in the urine (proteinuria) indicates kidney disease also in the case when there are no other symptoms.

Possible causes of the appearance of protein in the urine

  • Disease glomerulonephritis;
  • Glomerulosclerosis due to diabetes;
  • Thrombosis in the vessels of the kidneys;
  • Presence of a stagnant kidney;
  • Urolithiasis and others.

Diagnosis and treatment

The norm of the protein in urine is its content is not more than 50 - 150 mg / day. The amount of protein is easily diagnosed. Usually this is detected by passing a urine test. During the day, urine is collected by a certain technique. The analysis is repeated to avoid the chance factor, which can change the picture of the collected results.

In order to rule out the chance of passing the tests, keep the dishes clean and wash the external genitalia thoroughly. In addition to standard urine tests, electron microscopy of the kidney can be performed to help check for abnormalities in the basal membrane, increase in the number of pores and their size.

Particular attention is paid to the level of protein in the urine of pregnant women, since the kidney function is complicated by a growing uterus and increased stress on the whole organism and on the kidneys in particular. The norm is reduced and should not be more than 0.14 g / l (in the assay form).

Treatment of a complex disease associated with impaired renal activity (or another case of a disease diagnosed by physicians) can only be performed at the clinic.
