The most drinkable country: rating for 2015

It has long been a stereotype that the most drinking country in the world is Russia, and Ireland, to some extent, shares the primacy with it. Perhaps this was helped by the image of the cheerful "party-boyfriend", replicated by the media and gradually became an integral part of the mentality of these countries. But the dry figures of statistics are subjected, this, frankly, is far from an honorable primacy of doubt.

Published in 2015, the data of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) give serious food for thought.

Top of the most drinking countries: who is before Poland

A full report on the amount of alcohol consumed in 2013 (namely, these figures were processed and became the basis of the new rating) will not be cited in this article, but we will name the 10 most drinkable states in the world.

The tenth place of the rating is Poland. The choice of alcohol in this country is rather big. Local people love both beer and stronger drinks, which they know a lot about. Particularly popular among the Poles is Zubrovka, vodka, in which the producers put a stem of herbs in a bottle, giving it a special flavor.

The ninth place statistics of the most drinking countries is given to Germany. Germans, in contrast to the Poles, preference is given to beer, which can be bought everywhere - in specialized shops, vegetable trays and even in newsagents.

Paying tribute to such a love for a foam drink, in Munich, a beer festival is held every year , where visitors can eat the famous fried German sausages and drink a huge amount of beer.

Luxembourg and France - the eighth and seventh place in the ranking

The inhabitants of Luxembourg, the territory of which is located between Germany and France, in equal shares adopted the drinking culture of both states. In Luxembourg they like beer and wine. We must admit that both of these drinks are very tasty. In a small state there are a large number of breweries and wineries, many of which have a centuries-old history.

France, ranked 8th, is by no means the most drinking country, but nevertheless per capita here account for 12.48 liters of alcohol per year.

Most of all the French love wine. It has long been an integral part of even the usual meal, which, unfortunately, has not only a positive effect for digestion - among the French people are increasingly found people with alcoholism.

6th place - Hungary

Hungary is also not the most drinking country. But in our rating, she overtook France. Hungary is no less than France famous for its vineyards. And wine is a traditional alcoholic drink of its inhabitants. And one of its varieties - a palinka - and at all became a kind of national brand. It is prepared by distillation, not only from grapes, but from any berries - cherries, plums, apricots, raspberries, strawberries, etc., and get a rather strong (37.5 °) drink.

Perhaps, to the deplorable results led, the fact that the country can buy alcohol almost around the clock.

Fifth place - Russia

Unfortunately, Russia also got on the list of the most drinking countries. It was estimated that the inhabitants of a huge country consume about 15 liters of alcohol per person per year, which allowed it to take the 5th place.

Everyone knows the predilection of Russians to vodka, which has long become a national drink. Although recently, according to researchers, there is a clear tendency to the fact that an increasing number of citizens of the Russian Federation prefer wine.

Perhaps, this, and even a tough policy with respect to the sale and consumption of alcohol products, will somewhat reduce the "degree" of the population? Let's hope that Russia, in the end, will come down from its positions.

4th and 3rd place - Czech Republic and Estonia

The rating of the most drinking countries for 2015 on the fourth and third places, respectively, put the Czech Republic and Estonia.

Czechs, as calculated by researchers, consume 16.47 liters of alcohol per capita per year. Everyone knows the famous varieties of Czech beer, taking their history from the 12th century. In the Middle Ages, beer was brewed in every house, so it's no wonder that the drink acquired the status of a national and took a strong position in the culture of this country.

By the way, it should be said that, despite the frightening, it would seem, statistics, in the Czech Republic the percentage of people abusing alcohol is quite low.

On the third line of the sad list is Estonia. And although everyone knows the balanced and unflappable character of Estonians, they, as it turned out, like the hot drinks very much. The main of which is ale.

Estonian residents themselves believe that their problem is based on the availability of alcohol, the excessive branching of points where it can be bought and the relatively low price of alcoholic beverages.

Austria and Lithuania top the rating of the most drinking countries

Austria ranked second in the list. In this country, a special respect is enjoyed by schnapps - a strong alcoholic beverage, but beer is no less popular here.

Studies have shown that in Austria, however, as in other countries, a drinking person is, most often, a man who does not have higher education and is at a low social level. Fortunately, there is a tendency in the country to gradually reduce the number of citizens consuming alcohol.

Finally, we reached the top line of the rating. So, Lithuania is the most drinking country in the world. The proportion of deaths that are associated with the effects of alcohol use in it is 30.9%. And to the category of drinkers can be attributed more than 36% of the population. It is unlikely that the inhabitants of Lithuania are very proud of the first place in this rating!
