The Holocaust of Children is the most terrible crime against humanity

The most terrible crime against humanity was committed during the Second World War. In Europe and the countries of the former Soviet Union, there are virtually no families that would not have been affected by the Nazis. Someone died in the war fathers, sons, brothers, someone lost their relatives during the bombings, but the worst thing is the Holocaust of children forcibly taken from their parents. In the period 1933-1945 millions of innocent children of different nationalities and religions suffered. Few of them managed to survive, the fate of thousands of children in the post-war period was occupied by humanitarian organizations.

Selective extermination of children

Hitler was obsessed with the purity of the Aryan race, so he organized a special program to fight for its purification. Children of Jews and Gypsies were destroyed in the first place, because they were considered dangerous for Germany. The extermination was also inflicted on physically and mentally disabled children from the occupied territories of the USSR, Poland and Germany itself. The holocaust of children affected many families, orphans as well as children forcibly taken from their parents fell into the concentration camps. All victims can be divided into several groups:

  • Children from 12 years were used as labor and for medical experiments;
  • Destroyed newborns;
  • Children killed immediately upon arrival in the concentration camp;
  • Born in the death camps and ghettos, who managed to escape thanks to the people who sheltered them from the Nazis.

The attitude of the Nazis to children

In the ghetto, the unfortunate people died most often of illness and hunger. The Nazis were not bothered about this, because the kids were not of much value to them, in most cases they were destroyed together with the disabled and the elderly in the first place. Children of the Holocaust over 12 years old were used as labor, but the conditions were such that they did not last long. The feeble Nazis were sent to gas chambers, shot or simply left to die in agony. The Holocaust of children has become a disgrace to the whole nation, the Germans still can not cleanse themselves before the public for those terrible deeds. The destiny of the toddlers, as a rule, was controlled by the Judenrat, at his command the children were deported to the death camps.

Surviving children

Blonde, blue-eyed children with fair skin were more fortunate, they were taken away from their parents, but not killed, but sent to education in "racially complete" German families, since this appearance was "Aryan". The Holocaust of the children did not affect thousands of small Jews who were deported from Germany and the countries occupied by the Nazis by the Kindertourport program. There were brave people who agreed to hide the unhappy under their roof. Many children have found shelter in Belgium, Italy, in France they were hid by nuns, Catholic priests, Protestant families.

The Holocaust monument will always remind people of the unprecedented cruelty and atrocity of some historical figures and warn against the repetition of such horrors. No one has the right to dispose of the life of another person, to make a slave out of him or to kill him at his own whim.
