The film "Witches of Sugar-Murdi". Reviews: grotesque, feminism and gothic

The highest praise of Kinomatra Tarantino (the maestro was moved to tears) was awarded the tape "Sad melody for the pipe" of the director Alex de la Iglesia. It is very, very expensive. However, the film "Witches of Sugar-Murdi" in 2013 - a killer cocktail of irony, thrash, road-movie, criminal history-action movie about robbery, with a drop of feminism and obscene humor - is quite fresh creation of the Spaniard. Dressed idiotically (which is only the character depicting the Savior himself), apparently, not very experienced robbers are trying to clean the pawnshop. The absurdity of the situation is added by the presence of a "young boy" in practice (well, there was no one with whom to leave the boy at home!) Of one of the participants in a risky operation. And now the police "on the tail", a mini-gang steals the car (along with the driver-taxi driver and who was at the wrong time in the wrong place passenger who is "packed" in the trunk, so as not to hear his chatter and shouting) and rushes to Border of the state. What they are going to do on the border is unclear, the more they aim at no less, not less, the capital of France and the Disneyland, where the junior member of the gang wants to get to. On the way, the characters get into a strange town ... So the film begins, "The Witches of Sugar-Murdi," and almost all the female faces shown in it are witches, including the one who rushes after the fugitives (like a real witch on a broomstick) to the boy Sylvia .

Brilliant cast

The film "The Witches of Sugar-Murdi" reviews the audience with the most positive. In many respects due to the gothic irrational situation, dashing plot and, of course, to the cast of actors. The main male roles of Jose and Tony directed the director Hugo Silva ("lit" in a good recent thriller of the Spanish production of "Body") and the cutie Mario Casas, who suffer crowds of worshipers of the cultic "Three meters above the sky". Well, and the women possessing the magic gift of the picture are generally worthy of applause only (as did the already mentioned wife of one of the bandits, performed by Makarena Gomez). Separate ode worthy of the charm of Carolina Bang (charming Eva) and, of course, ageless charm, personified by Carmen Maura (Gratian devil). The film "Witches of Sugar-Murdi", reviews of which are highly controversial, have been judged by critics of various sizes. Among other things, the remarkable cast has received more than one award. Remarkable and unusual are the special effects on which the film "The Witches of Sugar-Murdi" is rich. Reviews about them most often mention the walking of one of the participants of the coven on the ceiling, in order to fix the chandelier.

On real events

Film production in recent years is not so generous in the stories about witches. The minds of Bullock and Kidman (Practical Magic) immediately come to mind, a half-childish but funny "Focus-Puff", a trash horror film by Rob Zombie with nauseating aunts ("The Lords of Salem"). Still, perhaps, there are references to the telesaga about Sabrina and the "Enchanted" sisters and the earlier series, about the retro-American witch wife. The work of the Spanish master occupied a worthy and honorable place at the top of the rating of such works. The plot, by the way, is taken by the Spaniard not at all "from the ceiling", in Sugar-Murdi and indeed in times immemorial judged those who were suspected of collusion with evil forces. It turns out, practically on real events the film "Witches from Sugarrami" is based, reviews about which critics of the different countries leave basically positive.
