The actors who played in the remake, in the first place, caused the audience's laudatory feedback. After all, the main roles were not to someone, but to Hollywood stars of the first class, Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron.

What are we talking about?

This is the story of the advertising agent Nelson Mosse, who is immersed in his career and in his life there is no place for anything but work. And so it's been quite a long time. But, as often happens in movies, one meeting can completely change a person's life. This is what happens to Moss when he meets the mysterious and completely unusual girl Sarah, who turns Nelson's habitual life upside down literally in one month. He begins to notice things that he did not pay attention to before, begins to rejoice, to live, to love. Only after a month of dating he is ready to make an offer to Sarah, but the girl rejects him and reveals her secret to him. That's the whole short plot of the film "Sweet November", the actors of which uniquely revealed their characters and forced a good half of the audience to empathize with them, rejoice with them and cry at the end of the film, and eventually think about and perhaps overestimate their lives.

From militants to romance

On the wave of success after the "Matrix" the performer of the role of Neo did not want to remain in the same role and tried himself in different projects, including melodramas, one of which was "Sweet November". Keanu Reeves at the peak of his popularity broke more than one woman's heart among the spectators. Actually, he was an excellent candidate for any film about love. Non-standard, but such an attractive appearance, a special charm, a halo of mystery and excellent acting helped Reeves get a role in the film "Sweet November". However, not only of the two heroes is the dramatic tape "Sweet November". The actors who played the secondary characters are also noteworthy. The talented and versatile Briton Jason Isaacs received in this film an unusual role - a transvestite named Chaz, one of Sarah's unusual friends. A similar plan is the role of Brandon / Brandy and Michael Rosenbaum. Also in the film were Greg Hermann (Vince), Liam Aiken (Ebner), Frank Langella (Edgar Price) and Lauren Graham as Angelica. From the flurry of criticism, even a good cast did not save the film "Sweet November". Critics' reviews were simply pejorative, and the tape itself was even nominated for the "Golden Raspberry", a kind of antipode "Oscar". Nominations were three: for the worst remake, the worst actor and the worst actress. Paradoxically, all this did not prevent the film from becoming one of the most beloved melodramas among viewers and winning literally world popularity.

Unforgettable original

Anyway, but the drama of director Pat O'Connor is really just a remake of the 1968 film, and if you compare them, the new film loses a little to the original. Released in 2001, "Sweet November" greatly adapted the plot, having adjusted it to modern realities, changed the name of the main character, his profession and the moment of acquaintance with Sarah, well, as well as a considerable number of secondary elements. And of course, acting. No matter how good Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron, but Sandy Dennis and Anthony Newly embodied the images of Sarah and Charles Blake are simply stunning in the film, based on Herman Rauscher's play "Sweet November" (photo actors).
