Medication "Ovestin" instruction defines as an estrogen-containing remedy used in the treatment of gynecological pathologies. The medicine contains estriol - a female natural sex hormone.

Indications for use

The drug "Ovestin" recommends the use of the instruction for the appearance of pathological symptoms due to a lack of estrogen in the pre-menopausal and postmenopausal periods (both natural and menopausal due to surgery). Especially effective is estriol in the treatment of urogenital disorders. The medicine "Ovestin" in case of atrophic changes in the vaginal mucosa is able to restore the epithelium and normalize the microflora thereby increasing the resistance to all possible infectious agents of the epithelial cells. Use the drug for dyspareunia, for the prevention of recurrence of infections of the urinary tract and vagina, with dysuria, frequent urination, in the case of urinary incontinence (moderately pronounced). In the form of tablets, the "Ovestin" medication is recommended for use in various climacteric disorders (eg, sweating, hot flashes), infertility due to the cervical factor.

Method of use

It is equally effective both in the form of tablets (for oral administration), and in the form of cream and suppositories (for intravaginal application) the drug "Ovestin". The instruction contains information that tablets should be taken daily at the same time, and the whole daily dose of the drug should be taken at a time. The dosage regimen is determined by the doctor, based on the clinical picture. Candles once a day are administered intravaginally. The introduction of the cream into the vagina is performed with a calibrated applicator before bed.

Contraindications

Do not use the medicine in case of hypersensitivity to estriol or any auxiliary substances that "Ovestin" contains. Contraindicated drug in breast cancer (suspected, diagnosed, transferred), malignant estrogen-dependent tumor (suspected, diagnosed), vaginal bleeding, with unexplained etiology, endometrial hyperplasia (untreated). In addition, you can not use the "Ovestin" in the presence of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, with any recently transferred or active thromboembolic disease (eg, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris), liver disease in the acute stage.

Side effects

When using the drug, there may be unpleasant reactions, namely, chest pain and discomfort, itching at the site of application of the drug. As a rule, such side effects are short-lived.
