Summary of "Mumu" Turgenev: hatred lady

Another year has passed. The lady was in excellent spirits, but this frightened the servant, since it was replaced by a very nasty disposition of the spirit. She looked out the window into the yard and noticed Mumu, who was lying under the rose bushes. The mistress was surprised and ordered to bring her a dog. When she wanted to pat her, the frightened Mumu growled. Of course, the lady jerked her hand back and became angry. She called Gavril, the butler, to her, and said that there was no dog in the estate and spirit. When Gerasim was busy, Mumu was caught and sold for half a ruble in the market. Long for the deaf and dumb, he sought his favorite, but to no avail. The next day he worked with a stony face. However, after a few days Mumu came back home again: she escaped from the new owners. After this event, Gerasim was the day to hide it in his room, and on the street it was taken out only at night. One day during such a walk Mumu barked at a drunken passerby and thus woke the lady who had just begun to fall asleep. She was angry and told to drown this dog. The porter hardly explained this order. Having analyzed what was going on, he made it clear that he would do it himself.

A brief retelling of Turgenev's "Mumu": execution of the order

Gerasim dressed in a festive way and went with Mumu to a tavern. There he fed her meat soup and headed for the river. Gerasim jumped into the first boat he got and swam on it in the middle of the river. The janitor lifted Mumu and looked at her for the last time. She still trusted him, was not afraid. Gerasim screwed up his eyes, turned away and unclasped his hands. It is clear that he did not hear a splash of water, nor the squealing of a dog. In the evening the janitor collected his belongings in a sack, threw it on his shoulders and walked along the road outside the city. Gerasim returned home without looking back to his village.
