"Sumamed" during pregnancy: instructions for use, effects and feedback

The woman's organism undergoes tremendous changes during pregnancy: all of its functions and systems work for the bearing of the fetus. Because of this, of course, a woman weakens, her immunity worsens, and she becomes more prone to virus and bacterial attacks. In such a period, a woman can easily catch a cold or catch an infection.

To the choice of medicines during pregnancy, in any case, you can not approach superficially. Even the usual cold in the most important period of a woman's life should be treated by a therapist or gynecologist. But it often happens that neither raspberry tea nor innocuous non-aggressive medicines can cope with the disease, and the patient has to take medications that can only be taken if the risks to the fetus and the mother's benefit are properly placed. In some cases, it is impossible to overcome an infection without taking antibiotics. Then you need to correctly choose the drug that has the least harm to the fetus.

Sumamed: all or nothing

One of the strongest antibiotics, the use of which is possible during pregnancy, is Sumamed. The active substance of this drug - azithromycin - belongs to the class of semisynthetic macrolides of the "B" category. Experimental data on the analysis of preparations of class "B" did not reveal an adverse effect on the fetus in animals, however, no profound studies were carried out in pregnant women.

The results of studies of azithromycin have shown that it can penetrate only a small amount through the placental barrier and, according to statistics, does not increase the percentage of births of children with developmental anomalies.

However, in the first trimester of pregnancy the fetus is still poorly protected. At this time, the basic functions and organs of the future baby are formed. During this period, it is undesirable to take as a whole any medications, not to mention Sumamed in the early stages of pregnancy. Its use in the first 12 weeks is extremely dangerous for the fetus.

But in some cases the refusal to accept Sumamed during pregnancy can not but lead to consequences for the health of the mother or even her life. For example, pyelonephritis, if left untreated, can seriously disrupt kidney and liver function. In this case, it is necessary to be ready for total risk: the pregnancy either completely interrupts, or continues to flow to the end without any consequences.

Starting with the 2nd trimester, "Sumamed" during pregnancy can be used more calmly, it will not have a pathological effect on the fetus.

Method of application of azithromycin

Azithromycin upon ingestion exhibits bactericidal properties, suppressing the development of harmful cells. Getting inside of human immune cells, the drug accumulates in them up to the amount necessary to combat pathogens. "Sumamed" begins to show therapeutic properties after a lapse of 1-3 days from the beginning of its reception.

This is the main plus of azithromycin before other drugs: instead of difficult treatment in 7-10 days, "Sumamed" should take only 3 days for 1 tablet or capsule one hour before meals or after two hours after.

With this method, the drug is rapidly absorbed by the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, enters the systemic circulation of the body and then to the lesion, destroying bacterial microorganisms.

Reception "Sumamed" is possible in several variations: tablets, capsules, suspension.

Indications for use of "Sumamed" in pregnancy

Considering that Sumamed is the strongest antibiotic of a wide spectrum of action, it is possible to treat the following diseases with its help:

  • Infections of the upper respiratory tract (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis);
  • Infections of the lower respiratory tract (acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia);
  • Infection of the genitourinary system;
  • Migratory erythema.

"Sumamed" depresses bacteria such as streptococci, gardnerella, staphylococcus, Helicobacter bacterium and hemophilic rod, stopping their growth and reproduction.

It is important to remember that when this type of symptoms occurs it is necessary to strictly observe the drinking regimen, in order to avoid dehydration of the body. It is advisable to take saline solutions (the basis for them can be bought at the pharmacy or prepared independently).

Weakening immunity even more than before the disease, the use of Sumamed during pregnancy activates also fungal bacteria: a woman may have candidiasis as a mucous membrane of the vagina, and the oral cavity. Treatment of thrush, which acts only to eliminate its symptoms, can be delayed, so it is also necessary to strengthen immunity in ways that are possible during pregnancy.

Other side effects include allergic reactions, such as skin rashes, or Quincke's edema on the part of the endocrine system, as well as dizziness, pain, insomnia from the nervous side.

Analogues of "Sumamed"

"Sumamed" is a broad-spectrum drug that belongs to the group of macrolides-azalides. Its cost is an order of magnitude higher than that of other antibiotics with azithromycin as an active substance in the same drug group.

To the cheaper analogues of Sumamed are the following medicament preparations:

  1. "Azithromycin" - is available in the form of capsules of 250 mg.
  2. "Azitral" - is available in the form of capsules of 250 and 500 mg.

Reviews

Those who used Sumamed during pregnancy have feedback that differ fundamentally: some think that it is a first-class drug that can overcome the disease in a couple of days, while others were afraid to take it because of the lack of adequate data on its effect on the body of both the mother and Child in her womb.

And in that, and in another case, opinions converge in one: taking the drug allows you to feel better at times better in the first day. But at the same time, the side effects of "Sumamed" can be pursued for some time.

Statistical same data show that taking azithromycin during pregnancy does not lead to the birth of children with pathologies, even when treating them in the first weeks of pregnancy, provided that at such an early period the pregnancy was saved.
