Sultans of the Ottoman Empire in the period of the decline of the great state. Role in history

The Ottoman Empire was created by Osman I and over the centuries was a majestic and mighty power. Having existed for 6 centuries, it was a thunderstorm for all neighboring countries. Its power depended primarily on literacy, justice and the mind of the rulers. Becoming the heir of Byzantium, this power had a great influence on the formation of the culture of many countries, from modern Turkey and the Balkan Peninsula.

It should be noted that the sultans of the Ottoman Empire were known not only for the conquests of the territories, but also contributed to the world history. Thus, Sultan Murad began to build Turkish schools in various cities. With him, for the first time in history, the first specially trained army was founded. It consisted of Janissaries, who then began to protect the Sultan.

Great sultans of the Ottoman Empire were engaged in the development of art. For example, Murad II contributed in every way to improving the construction of cities and supported the formation of various types of art. Muhammad II, despite his cruelty, was an educated man, zealously supported the construction of new premises for art.

Sultans Selim I and Suleiman ruled at sunset 16 - at the beginning of 17 centuries. The Ottoman Empire (the reign of Sultan Suleiman) reached its peak of power. This time was called by historians the "golden age" of the Ottoman Empire. The ruler developed a navy to strengthen the power of the empire. Sultan Suleiman was a very wise ruler, he introduced a system of taxation that virtually eliminated the possibility of avoiding the payment of taxes, left behind a set of laws. Under his rule, the boys were given education, which was deep and extensive. There were not only simple schools, but also high-level schools, graduates of which received the profession of a teacher or an imam. Suleiman himself wrote poetry, recording them under the name Muhibbi. For his services the Sultan was called Suleiman the Magnificent. Historians also call it the "Legislator". During the reign of this sultan lived the most famous people in the history of the Ottoman Empire: Kodja Mimar, Sinan, Fusuli, Baki and others.

After the reign of Suleiman, the fall of the state began. The sultans of the Ottoman Empire were defeated on the battlefields. They lacked a strong character, the main power was in the hands of the wives and mothers of the rulers. Sultans of the Ottoman Empire tried to implement reforms, but this resulted in failures. The empire lost provinces and gradually lost its former power.

The Sultans created a huge cultural heritage. Caring for the development of art, science, they left a deep imprint in the history of the development of civilization. To this day preserved works of wood, porcelain, as well as various miniatures, ornaments. It should also be noted that the Ottoman Empire was a multiethnic country in which people of different faiths lived, speaking more than twenty languages. At the same time, the sultans of the Ottoman Empire showed tolerance, leaving the right to speak their own language and develop their culture.
