Sulfur in the ears - a problem or a norm?

The human body has a unique structure and under normal conditions it is self-cleaning, including auditory passages. This process is ongoing, for example, when talking or chewing food, as well as when coughing or sneezing. The formation of a substance such as sulfur in the ears is a natural process associated with the structure of the ear and the functions it performs.

Many people believe that sulfur is dirt. This is an erroneous opinion, in fact, this sticky and thick liquid serves to protect the ear from getting into it dirt and dust.

Although the body is able to self-clean, but sometimes it also malfunctions, and there is a lot of sulfur in the ears. This can occur both in the presence of certain diseases, and due to the peculiar form of the auditory canal, which can be very narrow and therefore there are compacted lumps.

The person will not feel the presence of sulfur plug until there is a gap between it and the wall of the auditory canal. After the disappearance of this gap, for example, from the swelling of the plug due to water ingestion, the hearing deteriorates immediately, which is the consequence of having a sulfur plug.

There are the main symptoms by which you can determine the presence of such a plug:

- there is a sharp and significant deterioration of hearing;

- there is a sense of resonance when speaking from your own voice;

- a sudden appearance of a cough;

- there are third-party noises in the ears ;

- there are unpleasant painful sensations, and also pawns ears.

Sulfur in the ears, which has turned into a cork, should not be extracted independently, in such cases it is not necessary to hesitate and it is necessary to consult a doctor. When trying to self-remove the cork, you can overdo, resulting in damage to the eardrums.

In medical institutions, sulfur in the ears, which has turned into a cork, is removed by a washing method. In this case, the doctor directs the water jet to the back wall of the ear canal and conducts its rinsing. Then, using a cotton swab, the ear dries.

Often, the removal of the plug is not obtained from the first attempt, therefore, the instillation of drops of sodium hydrogencarbonate into the ears is prescribed . They soften it, and only then the final cleaning of the ear canal is carried out.

Self-removal of sulfur plugs can lead to unpleasant consequences. There is a possibility of damage to the sulfur glands, the work of which can be disturbed or they will cease to function at all.

With improper care, sulfur in the ears can be compressed, which leads to the appearance of sulfur plug. And this can be caused by the use of objects that are not intended for ear cleaning, such as matches, rods, and cotton swabs.

In addition to improper care for the auricles, there are other reasons for the appearance of sulfur plugs:

- untimely care of the auricles, which contributes to the accumulation of dust and dirt in them, as well as other foreign bodies;

- inflammatory processes that occur in the ear;

- the presence of genetic predisposition, as well as the specific form of the auditory canal, it can be either very tortuous or too narrow;

- high cholesterol in the blood, which is associated with a violation of metabolic processes in the body.

In any case, the presence of traffic jams signals some kind of malfunction in the well-coordinated work of your body. For example, in the presence of seborrhoea, the skin is dried and dry sulfur in the ears is formed. If in the body all systems and organs work normally, then for a full functioning of the hearing aid, once a week, when taking a bath, clean your ear with your finger.

The best prevention of the appearance of traffic jams in the ears is the observance of personal hygiene, and if you are predisposed to the appearance of ear plugs, prophylaxis, instill in the ears a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, for 3 days 3-4 times a year.
