Step-by-step description of the process, how to draw an elephant

Learning to draw is difficult, but you can, and you need to start with the simplest. Therefore, today we try to portray a funny elephant. Let it look like a cartoonish one, but, having learned to draw such a thing, in the future you will be able to improve your Skill, and the next animal will turn out more naturalistic. In the meantime, you can even sit with your child at the table and, armed with a pencil and paper, proceed to the arts.

So, step one to how to draw an elephant. This animal, like any other, has a head and trunk. We plan them schematically in the form of two circles. See how it is done in the figure. As you can see, one circle, which later turns into a head, should be slightly smaller than the second, from which we will make the trunk. So, the overall silhouette is outlined. At the center of the smaller circle, draw a slightly curved axis. It will serve as a guide.

The next step in learning how to draw an elephant with a pencil is a preliminary sketch of the trunk. Pay attention to the sample: from the crown of the future head there is a smooth line, which will mark the forehead of the animal. It smoothly passes into the trunk slightly below the axis. The length of the elephant's nose is slightly larger than the diameter of the head. Do not forget to bend it at the end.

In the continuation of the lesson, how to draw an elephant in stages, we proceed to sketch the ears of the animal. Then the ear that is closer to us, we begin to depict, focusing on the center of the circle, which later becomes the head. Its shape is not round, but rather ovoid, "point" down. The second ear is only partially visible. Next, outline the oval eyes. Looking at the drawing pattern, pay attention to how it is located in relation to the trunk, ear and axis.

Now we proceed to the next stage of learning how to draw an elephant - to the image of the trunk, legs and tail of the animal. Begin drawing the back, smoothly turning into one hind leg, then into the abdomen and the forelimbs. Lightly mark the chest of the elephant. Draw the second hind leg. The beast is almost ready. It remains to add a long tail with a brush and erase the auxiliary lines. The contours of the elephant can be traced a little more strongly. Also it is not forbidden to show imagination and to depict small tusks.

The final stage of learning how to draw an elephant will be its coloring. You can do it with any art materials: watercolor, color pencils, gouache, pastel, etc. The main color of the elephant is gray, so paint it with this tone, add a few shadows to make the animal look more volume. To make the drawing look more alive and complete, you can add a beautiful background in the form of a landscape. Make a blue sky with white clouds, and under the feet of an elephant, draw grass, flowers and anything. Do not forget to make a shadow under it, otherwise it will seem that the animal is hanging in the air.

We hope this was a simple and understandable drawing lesson not only for you, but also for your child. If you have not had time to paint the picture, and there is still space on the paper, you can draw another elephant in the same way. Do not be afraid to fantasize. Let the second animal be a "girl": draw a bow on her tail or beautiful beads around her neck.
