Youth

Simon Le Bon linked his creative activity with this group. Duran Duran created bass guitarist John Taylor, keyboardist Nick Rhodes and singer Stephen Duffy back in 1978. The latter left the band a year later, as he did not see the prospects for the project. Then there followed further changes in the composition. The music of the band combined elements of rock, funk and disco. The musicians were looking for a special vocalist. Simon Le Bon was introduced to the team in 1980, in May. The former girlfriend of the musician was the waitress of a night club, in which the group Duran Duran was rehearsing at the time. It was this lady who recommended as vocalist Le Bon. At that time our hero composed poems. One of his creations came up to the band's instrumental composition.

In the same year, Duran Duran organized performances in the vicinity of Birmingham and London. After that, the group goes on tour together with "Hazel O'Connor". And the last collective was warming up. In December, the collaboration with the group is extended by the EMI label. The first album of the band appeared in 1981. He instantly brought the project to a number of leaders of the new romance.

Over the next three years, Duran Duran created albums once a year. Each of the releases was accompanied by a promotional campaign, as well as a big concert tour. As a result, the musicians exhausted themselves, temporarily stopped performing and recording. Participants of the team engaged in other projects. Rhodes, Roger Taylor and Le Bon created the Arcadia group. She recorded a single album, which was released in 1985. Having renewed the composition with the departure of Andy and Roger Taylor, Duran Duran resumed active activity by 1986. Soon the album Notorious leaves. Two years later, Big Thing appeared. In 1989, the band became a quintet again: Stirling Campbell, drummer, and Warren Kukkurullo, guitarist, joined the cast. The first left the project after the release of the album Liberty.

By the end of the eighties, the popularity of the band began to decline. Success was returned by the 1993 release entitled The Wedding Album. He included several hits, among them Come Undone and Ordinary World. Then began several months of continuous performances to support the album. However, the last concerts the band was forced to postpone, since there were problems with Simon Le Bon's bundles. In 1995, Duran Duran prepared a compilation of cover versions called Thank You. On it, Le Bon sang the works of his favorite musicians, among them Elvis Costello, Lou Reed, Jim Morrison. The album was smashed by critics, but at the same time the performers approved it. Le Bon, at the same time, together with Luciano Pavarotti - the famous tenor - performed the song Ordinary World during the charity concert of Children of Bosnia.

Personal life

Simon Le Bon and Yasmin are married. The musician's wife is a former model. The family has three children. Our hero is engaged in sailing. In 1985, on the "Fastnet" regatta, his yacht called Drum turned over. The crew had to spend some time in the water until the rescuers arrived.
