Famous far beyond Russia's borders, Volgograd and Volgograd region attract hundreds of thousands of tourists annually. First of all, of course, everyone wants to visit the city-hero Volgograd.

Serafimovich is an ancient city of Cossacks

A small cozy town of Serafimovich is 200 km from the regional center. The main attractions of Serafimovich Volgograd region are his songs, dances, hospitality of residents, a 4-century history, fidelity to the Cossack traditions. However, apart from these, there are also quite tangible places in the city. In the heart of the town, the architecture of the Cossack village still exists. The ancient one-, two-storey brick houses of the XIX century are well-kept and carefully kept by local residents. The Church of the Ascension of the Lord with the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Being in Serafimovich, it is impossible to pass by such a sight of the Volgograd region as a museum of a writer, after whom the city is named. Collected by all the forces and carefully stored personal belongings of the writer, furniture, textiles, sculptures create an atmosphere so authentic that it seems as if in the 40s the time here has frozen forever. Not far from the writer's museum is located one more - the museum of the Ust-Medveditsky Cossacks. Here you can touch the history of the Don Cossacks, review their weapons, household items, documents. The Ust-Medveditsky Savior-Transfiguration Monastery, which stands almost on the banks of the Don, is one of the most visited places in the region.

Volzhsky - a young city on the banks of an ancient river

Located in the Volgograd suburb Volzhsky from the height looks like an open palm. This is a fairly young settlement, so it can not boast of old buildings and monuments of architecture. The sights of the Volga Volgograd region are somewhat different. Most of the memorials are devoted to the development of industry in the province, town planning, the famous Volga hydroelectric power station. There are also spiritual institutions in Volzhsky. Kamyshin: a city-worker and its sights

The third largest in the region, Kamyshin stands in a picturesque area, on the banks of the Kamyshinka River. The townspeople say that the main attractions of Kamyshin in the Volgograd region are its factories and factories. Developed industry sets the pace of urban life. Cossack village Olkhovka

Volgograd region, whose sights are known even outside of Russia, is famous not only for military memorials and architectural monuments, but also for its unique nature. Often, tourists take small towns and villages that stretch on the picturesque banks of numerous rivers.

A striking example is the little Olkhovka, founded by the Don Cossacks back in the eighteenth century. Every tourist who comes to these lands, strives not only to admire the beauties of the Russian land, but also plans to visit such an attraction of the Volgograd region as the Mound Holy Mountain, located in the northwest of Olkhovka. At the foot of the mound a spring springs with crystal clear water. Legend has it that Alexander Nevsky himself quenched his thirst. Kamenno-Brodsky Holy Trinity Monastery - no less famous and popular among pilgrims place in Olkhovsky district. The ancient monastic complex is surrounded on all sides by the Cretaceous mountains, dug in many caves. The monastery is famous for its healing springs, which beat from the bowels of the earth. Until now, researchers have found new caves and courses, keeping the secrets of ancient times. It is established that in these underground hiding places local residents were hiding during the time of Batu invasion. The territory of the monastery is seated with giant oaks, among which there are 300-400-year-old elders.
