Alexei I. Marchenko was born on January 2, 1992 in Moscow. From the school age, the young player began to get involved in hockey and soon enrolled in the school of the capital's "Spartacus", but soon after the start of training moved to the system of CSKA. "CSKA" highly appreciated the defender's talent, and in 2009 the young hockey player made his debut in the professional league in the MHL club "Red Army". In the first season, Marchenko Alexey demonstrated an incredible level, for 43 games, gaining 34 points.

Progress of the newcomer of the club was evaluated and based on - in the 2009/10 season the Russian was 10 times involved in the games of CSKA in the KHL. But not having scored effective points, for further experience he returned to the youth team. The next season also succeeded Alexei - 38 points for 36 games again forced the coaching staff of CSKA to attract players to the KHL matches. In the Russian elite of hockey, Marchenko was able to score two points for 22 meetings and attracted attention from overseas - during the draft he was chosen by the Detroit Red Wings.

The Russian in one of the interviews said he would like to try his hand in the NHL in the near future, but during the 2011/12 championship he got injured, for a long time he was out of action. Returning, Marchenko Alexei soon found himself in the main cage of CSKA and in the 2012/13 season seriously helped the club, gaining 9 points.

Traveling across the ocean

To fulfill his dream of moving to America, Marchenko Alexey could only in 2013. At the end of May that year, the defender signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings, but he did not manage to hit the ground right away and was forced to spend some time with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL. In the "griffins" Marchenko spent a half of the season, in parallel taking part in only one match of the team from Detroit - January 4, 2014 debut defender in the NHL.

For the 2014/15 championship the Russian has already started to get to the main line-up and on February 25 opened the scoring goals in the League, hitting the Nashville goal. From the 2015/16 season he became one of the players of the base and for the first full season he was able to score 11 points for 66 meetings, however this did not help Detroit succeed. This season, the team again does not shine, located in the "basement" of the standings, but the game of the Russian defender is assessed very highly.

Playing in the Russian national team

In 2016, Alexei Marchenko, a hockey player who proved himself in the NHL with the best hand, was summoned to the national team. The debut of a young Russian came at the World Championships in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Unsuccessful start in the game against the Czech Republic, the Russian team corrected in the next meetings, and in the match against Denmark, it was Marchenko's blow that allowed the owners of the ice to open the account.

In the final meeting of the group stage with Sweden, the defender issued and the first assistant for the team. As a result, losing in the semifinals, Alexei became the bronze medalist of the championship, contributing to the victory of the team in the fight for third place. The successful performance allowed Marchenko to be in the composition and the World Cup, but there, not having earned any productive points, the Russians were content with only the 4th place, losing by points to Sweden.
