Reinforced concrete pipes: pressure and non-pressure pipes

Ferroconcrete pipes, despite the presence of modern steel and polymer products, have not ceased to be popular. They are usually used in the process of installing highways. They are capable of undergoing heavy loads.

Application area

Reinforced concrete pipes are common in civil engineering. Most often they are used in the laying of septic tanks, through which industrial and domestic sewage migrate. In view of the fact that such pipes have a significant diameter, they are widely used for the installation of main collectors. They are indispensable in the arrangement of storm sewage systems. Such pipes can have a different profile, which allows them to be used for mounting different structures by the type of supports, foundations and much more.

Varieties of reinforced concrete pipes

Reinforced concrete pipes are classified according to some criteria. Thus, they can be non-pressure. Such products are used for transportation of liquids by gravity. It is inadmissible to use them under conditions that involve considerable pressure of liquids. However, such pipes can absorb high mechanical loads, and also have excellent strength characteristics.

The second classification of reinforced concrete pipes is pressure products used for the installation of highways, which function at high loads as internal pressure. This variety of products is produced using a special technology, which involves the implementation of crimping, improving the quality characteristics. Pressure reinforced concrete pipes have a large wall thickness, which sometimes reaches 10% with respect to the inner diameter.

There are still pipes of special purpose, the diameter of which sometimes reaches 2 m with a length of 5 m. Such products are particularly strong. As for pressure pipes, they can have one of four modifications in pressure (5-20 atmospheres), they are used for liquids that are not distinguished by an aggressive medium. In the production of particularly common products, whose diameter is within 40-160 cm.

Reinforced concrete pipes are classified according to the maximum depth of the pile. There are 3 groups, each of which assumes a distance from the surface of the earth within 2, 4 and 6 m.

Spigot ferro-concrete pipes

Such a pipe looks like a traditional plastic or cast iron sewer. In order to make the interfacing of such products sealed, seals should be used. Products of the socket type simply lay, this makes them so common. In this case, the diameter of the joints is larger than the main diameter. Such products can be either pressure or non-pressure.

Marking of reinforced concrete products

In order to understand what products in front of you - reinforced concrete pipes, non-pressure spigots or others, it is necessary to understand the marking. Thus, the first figures, which can be seen on non-pressure products equipped with a bell, indicate the value of the internal section, the data are indicated in centimeters. Whereas by the second combination one can understand what the length of the tube is, it is, by the way, denoted in decimeters. The last figure is the bearing capacity, which indicates the permissible depth of the installation.

If the pipe culvert is reinforced concrete can be used for laying the pressure head system, then it will be the letter abbreviation TN. If there is a rim on the pipe, the sole or docking station on it, you can see the marking of TB, TP, TS, respectively. But the folded products can have the following markings: TF, DFT, TBPP, TO, FC and others.

Pros of w / w products

Ferro-concrete non-pressure or pressure pipes have a lot of advantages, the first of which implies high strength and reliability of products. These qualities are due to a special production technology. It is centrifugal casting that makes it possible to obtain such durable products. In the course of manufacturing, vibrocompression is also used. Additional advantages of reinforced concrete pipes are insignificant cost, which is explained by not so high production costs; And the ability to undergo temperature changes. In addition, the pipes can be operated with a large temperature range. They can be used in harsh external conditions. Concrete does not lend itself to corrosion, nor does it rot, which forces consumers to choose it more often than steel. Among the advantages of specialists are the dielectric qualities of the material, this helps to eliminate wandering currents. Will serve such products for more than half a century.

Cons of reinforced concrete pipes

Ferro-concrete non-pressure and pressure pipes have some disadvantages. Sometimes for their installation, there is a need to use a special technique, which makes the work more costly. In addition, for the smooth passage of liquids in some cases, there is a need to lubricate the internal surface of pipes with a special composition, which involves additional labor.

GOST 6482-88

The norms of manufacture are regulated by GOST: reinforced concrete pipes according to it must meet the characteristics of watertightness, in addition, they must undergo an internal hydrostatic pressure in the range of 0.05 MPa. The concrete should be resistant to frost. In addition, the base of the pipes should be heavy concrete, prepared in accordance with GOST 26633, its compressive strength should be equal to B25.

The mentioned compressive strength can be changed, but deviations that go beyond the limits of GOST 13015.0 are unacceptable. The water resistance of the pipe walls must correspond to class W4. Water absorption should not exceed 6% by weight. As the reinforcing cage , steel A-I and A-III (GOST 5781) can be used.

Characteristics of reinforced concrete pipes

All qualitative characteristics of reinforced concrete pipes are regulated by the mentioned GOST, reinforced concrete non-pressure pipes should not have cracks on the walls, otherwise they can not be used in work. As an exception, shrinkage cracks appear, the width of which does not exceed 0.05 mm. Completeness is also determined by standards. Thus, pipes that are labeled TB, TSP, TBP, and TC must be sold and delivered to the buyer along with rubber-sealed sealing rings. Quality is also determined by the correctness of the marking, this indicates that the manufacturer clearly followed the rules prescribed in the GOST. The marking shall be applied to the outer surface of the socket, the designation may also be on one end of the rebated tube.

Diameters of reinforced concrete pipes were specified above and are very diverse. For the laying of a particular system, you can select products with certain parameters. Do not think that if you have to spend money on heavy equipment during installation , then the system will be much more expensive than that which is based on pipes from another material. After all, concrete pipes are able to recoup itself during the service life, without requiring repair for a long time.

Pipes ferro-concrete socket are convenient enough at stacking, for this reason they use most often, but before independent installation of system it is necessary to consult with the expert.
