Progressive house: music of the future

In an infinite variety of genres, styles and sub-styles of modern electronic music, you can easily get lost. Most of the listeners who are far from such music really do not see a big difference between different electronic sounds. There is a grain of truth in this: all styles of music are dependent on each other, and with the development of technologies, electronic beats and melodies are more and more often heard not only in their native direction. And nevertheless, there are many separate sub-layers of "electronics" that exist by themselves and differ from each other in their unique features. In this article, we will talk about the direction of progressive house ("progressive house").

"Progressive House" and its predecessor

"Progressive House", formed as a separate direction in the early nineties, grew out of another cultural giant - house music, which arose a decade earlier. And if at the dawn of its appearance it was a non-commercial underground music that was played at home parties, then in our time this is one of the most popular dance directions that sounds in nightclubs around the world. It is assumed that in closed apartments and the name of style arose - from the English word house - "house." Chaos, as it may seem at first by ear, has nothing to do with it.

Where did the second word in the title come from - "progressive"? In the world of music, this term is used to designate a constant search for new sound and experimental compositions. It is believed that it was first used in relation to American house music with an admixture of Italian disco. Another opinion is that the word "progressive" refers to the development of a musical composition, by analogy with a mathematical progression - from simple to complex, from small to large.

Features of progressive house

House music has several distinct identities. If you've been to discos, you could hear how the tracks usually start: first, a clear rhythmic beat, which can be counted down to "one-two-three-four". After a few such fours, a melody begins, the motif of which, as a rule, easily cuts into memory. Such a repeating motive in electronic music is called a sample. The pace of music is fairly even, calm and smooth, without sharp changes. However, the most prominent representatives of progressive house are prone to experiments. Listen, for example, to one of the veterans of this style - John Degweed.

"Trans Progressive" as a close relative of Hausa

Trance progressive house - another electronic direction, which the unprepared ear does not particularly distinguish from "house progressives." In fact, even music critics laugh that under the word "trance" they often mean any electronic music that does not knock on the head like a hammer, despite the presence of a clear beat, but still has a pleasant, even hypnotic and addictive melody.

In the same way as in progressive house, in the "trans progressive" there is a rhythm-beat for 4 counts, but the tempo is slightly faster. Also more diverse and added to the track effects, such as trans-gates - the characteristic, cosmic-solemn overflows of notes.

Where to listen to house and trance?

If you decided to get acquainted with the style of progressive house mix or progressive trance mix, then the simplest solution is to go to any special site where you can listen to music. There is a whole list of different collections of at least an hour. The beauty of house and trance is that they are ideal as a background music - a measured rhythm and a tight melody relax well both the body and the brain. You can search not a selection, but an Internet radio that plays these styles - then you will most likely get the latest news. Or vice versa, listen to the best tracks for a certain year, for example progressive house 2014.

If you delay such music, then go to the club when someone from the performers will play their DJ sets. Even if you have powerful speakers and perfectly sounding headphones at home, you will still feel a difference in the sound sensations in the club, and most importantly - feel the energy.
