Priory of Zion is a myth or reality?

The Priory of Zion is an allegedly existing European secret society that was founded in the eleventh century. His supposed goal is to preserve and protect the original commandments of Christianity. It also acts as the keeper of the genealogical tree of the descendants of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. Interest in the public was attracted by a number of books, among which a lot of disputes were caused by the publication, which became a bestseller - "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail".

Priory of Zion plays a central role in the sensational novel "Da Vinci Code" written by Dan Brown. It claims that the organization was founded in 1090 in the Holy Land by Baron Gottfried of Bouillon to restore the Merovingian dynasty, who are considered descendants of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Among the leaders are named Isaac Newton and Sandro Botticelli, Victor Hugo and Leonardo da Vinci. These names were quoted in parchments known as the "Secret Dossier" (they were discovered in the National Library of Paris in 1975).

They say that after Jerusalem was captured by the Crusaders, the construction of the abbey of the Mother of God began on Mount Zion . It housed the monks of the Augustinian Order. Being advisers of Gottfried Bouillon, they entered the secret community, and also took a direct part in the creation of the Knights Templar (1118) as its administrative force. This society functioned under different names, but the most frequently mentioned is the "Monastery of Zion".

The two organizations acted for the sake of common interests, but at the same time were to some extent competitors, which eventually led to serious differences in beliefs. The Knights Templar, as is known, was abolished (in 1312), but the Priory of Zion continued its existence and was ruled by Grand Masters, or Great Masters - people whose names are glorified in the history and culture of Western Europe.

In the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, the authors hypothesize that Jesus, married to Mary Magdalene, had several children.

They or their descendants left for the lands located in the territory of modern southern France. Later they entered into conjugal unions with noble families, eventually establishing the Merovingian dynasty.

And today the Priory of Zion, who announced his revival in 2002, patronizes the descendants of the ancient French dynasty. In his opinion, the legendary Graal of St. Mary Magdalene and, consequently, the sacred royal family tree, whose ancestor she is. He devotes himself to the idea of a unified Europe and a new world order.

The Catholic Church, in the opinion of the "Monastery of Zion", tried to destroy the dynasty and its defenders - the Templars and Cathars, in order to preserve its power through the patriarchal line of popes of Rome, starting from St. Peter.

But the problem is that although the Templars and Cathars, just as the secret Masonic society that emerged in the seventeenth century, historically existed, all the evidence relating to the "Monastery of Zion" and proposed as truth in the above works is in fact based On false information. This is a hoax, created by the swindler and pretender to the French throne by Pierre Plantar, who is the founder of Priory of Zion.
