The Suzuki-Intruder series was developed and manufactured in view of the growing demand for cruise motorcycles. Created in Japan, it absorbed many features inherent in the American motor industry.

It includes several models, most of which are pure-water cruisers, designed for long-distance roads. But there are in it and typical city bikes, worked in the style of chopper.

Japanese Invasion

The manufacturer chose the name "Intruder" not by chance. It does not have a literal translation into Russian, but its meaning is reduced to such definitions as: "Conqueror", "Occupier", "Invader". These words easily read the ambitious plans of the manufacturer to win the market segment. The experience of sales in the US and Europe confirms the old bike that the name of the ship determines its future destiny. "Invader" coped with the task: successfully invaded the territory entrusted to him, won many fans and is not going to surrender.

History of the family

The first-born in the series is the Suzuki-Intruder 750 motorcycle. He appeared in 1985. This unit was planned for the US market, but at about the same time in the States a new law was issued, according to which the supply of motorcycles with a volume of 750 or more "cubes" was accompanied by rather high duties. The manufacturer reacted quickly - and there was a model of "Intruder" with a motor at 699 cm ³ .

Two years later, the company "Suzuki" introduced to the world one more model from the series - Intruder 1400. Outwardly it was similar to its predecessors, but very different from them in terms of characteristics. In 1992, based on Intruder 750, another version was built with an engine capacity of 800 cubic meters. Later this model became a prototype for two "younger brothers" - with motors of 400 and 600 cm ³ .

The series was produced before 2005. Subsequently, the Intruder, Marauder and Desperado series were combined into one - Boulevard. Today it is under this name that the models developed once for the Suzuki-Intruder family are produced.

Common features

The peculiarity of this series is practically the same appearance of all models. Distinctive features are reduced only to the power unit. Quite frankly, it is quite difficult to distinguish models from this series from each other by external signs.

Appearance of "Intruders" is very bright, memorable. In appearance it is a typical tourist-cruiser, endowed with some traits of custom.

Features of Intruder 400

One could take this model as a typical cruiser, but Forbes magazine once gave it the first place in the nomination "Best Motorcycle for the City". And this is quite deserved: the bike possesses excellent maneuverability, compact dimensions, is economical in its content.

The Suzuki-Intruder 400 series has two modifications:

• VS 400 (1994-1999);
• 400 Classic (2000 - up to the present time).

Their differences are in the external structure. Motorcycles of the first generation have exhaust pipes on each side, the wheels are larger, and the wings are smaller. "Classic" version is equipped with large overhead wings, both exhaust pipes are located on the right, the diameter of the wheels is 17 ', which is 2 inches less than the predecessor.

Both versions are equipped with two-cylinder engines of 399 cm ³ and have a capacity of 33 and 32 liters. from. respectively.

750 and 800

Almost identical devices, which differ only in a small difference in volume. Both motorcycles have a maximum capacity of 55 "horses," weighing 200 kg. The owners' feedback indicates that the "eight hundred" has a greater appetite for fuel. The convenient cruising speed for these models is 100-110 km / h. "Suzuki-Intruder 800" can be dispersed and more, but you need to have a lot of driving experience for this. The engine will cope, but the pilot should be sure that he will manage.

As for the exterior, the platform for both models is the same. During the years of production, certain series were produced, differing from each other by insignificant features. For example, the EL marking indicates that the motorcycle is equipped with an additional chrome-plated body kit.

1400 "cubes"

The second bike in the lineup is a powerful unit, equipped with a four-stroke engine with a volume of 1360 cm ³ . "Suzuki-Intruder 1400" - this is a typical cruiser, endowed with a characteristic appearance. It is built on a steel frame, equipped with spiked wheels and a high windshield. A simple suspension in the form of a telescopic fork and a rear double shock absorber ensures a smooth ride even on the highway with a not very high quality coating.

The engine is able to produce up to 72 liters. from. The dry weight of the motorcycle is 243 kg. The motorcycle was produced in several versions, oriented to the markets of Canada and the USA. Since 2008, the model is already produced as part of the line "Bolivard", although it did not bring any significant changes.

Giant with a 1.8-liter heart

"Suzuki Intruder 1800" is a real flagship. And not only among the products of the manufacturer, but also in the class of tourist cruisers. It was issued in several versions:

• M1800R2 - with a neyed-headlight and without a front fairing;
• C109RT - a classic modification with a touring accessory;
• M109R BOSS is a premium version of two-color painting with black rather than chrome parts.

The last two modifications came out as part of the "Bolivard" family. But the recognizable face of "Suzuki-Intruder" was completely preserved. The main differences between the modifications were again reduced to appearance, and not to technical features. Basically, these differences are reduced to the organization of the front headlight. It can be in the neked version, integrated into the fairing or built into the high windshield.

The technical features of this model deserve close attention, since the motorcycle has not so many analogs, in some sense even today still special.
