May 15 - Family Day. history of the holiday

The family is the most important unit of society. Without it, the existence of the state is impossible. Therefore, those countries that are worried about their own development, do not bypass May 15 - Family Day. After all, in order for civilization to evolve, first of all, families must be strong.

How it all began

The history of the Family Day on May 15 dates back to the distant 1989, when the first attempts to create a tradition were made. However, the world community supported this initiative and took seriously the problems of families only after 5 years. And 1994 was proclaimed the International Year of the Family.

At the same time, the UN Assembly joined the solution of problems. The organization adopted a resolution that a new red day of the calendar should appear in the world - May 15 (Family Day), which should be celebrated annually. She hoped that on this day every year around the world will be held a variety of conferences, forums, festivals, dedicated to the actual problems of the family.

2014 is a jubilee year, as the citizens of the whole world celebrated the Family Day for the 20th time. In Russia, to support this tradition began a year later - in 1995. From that moment our state began to pay more attention to the problems of families in the country. And 2008 was proclaimed the Year of the Family by decree of the Commander-in-Chief of Russia.

Relevance of the family

Adequate perception of the surrounding world and the acquisition of the right moral attitudes, certain traits of character - all this in a person is laid in a narrow circle of close people. A person only in the family can receive warmth, love and affection. For the entire process of socialization of the individual, the responsibility is primarily the parents.

Strong family is the key to the welfare of the entire population on the planet. Therefore, the state needs to take great care of this cell of society. May 15 - Family Day - calls on everyone on the planet to reflect on the conditions in which today's families live, whether they bring up their children well, how they overcome the life difficulties that have set in.

Sometimes you need an excuse to remember about your parents' home, children, family values and your family tree. A certain day was allocated for these purposes. Ensuring the transfer of traditions from generation to generation is one of the basic functions of the community cell. Its importance can not be minimized in society. It should be nurtured on the basis of a full family.

Family Day is a very important and quite popular holiday. Any such event positively influences the relations of its members and brings them closer. And the celebrations dedicated to this cell of society, the more will promote its unity. It can be safely said that the idea of creating such an event was successfully implemented. Although the holiday is still young, it already has its own traditions.

Traditions of Family Day in Russia

Every year on May 15 - Day of the Family - is celebrated with a solemn ceremony in the Kremlin. It is awarded the "Family of Russia" award. Families with many children are presented with the Order of Parental Glory. The corresponding decree on the approval of awards was signed in the Year of the Family and, accordingly, issued in May 2008.

Also on this day across the country are various festivals, discussions, conferences relating to the institution of the family. And throughout the time (several years), propaganda of the value of family and childbearing, which is gradually bearing fruit. In many Russian regions over the past few years there has been an increase in the birth rate and excess over mortality.

There is another wonderful tradition related to Family Day - to celebrate the whole country with one more event. All in the same year, 2008, the All-Russian Orthodoxy Day was officially proclaimed - the Day of Peter and Fevronia, which is celebrated all over the country on July 7. This day also hosts many activities aimed at supporting the institution of the family.

Support for families in Russia

The celebration of the Family Day on May 15, as a rule, in civilized states is quite loud, since the issues related to it are important for the development of countries. In Russia it is celebrated for 19 years already. Every year there is a burning key issue, which is connected with the plots of all the events held at this time.

2008 was declared the Year of the Family in the Russian Federation, for which the government developed a strong state program aimed at developing support for families in our country. First of all, the state supports those families who are in a difficult life situation. So, an important direction in the program is to help single pensioners and children who do not have trustees.

Do not forget the statesmen and the problems of motherhood and childhood. For example, there is an acute problem of mortality in childbirth, both mothers and their babies. In order for these indicators to go to zero, it is necessary to ensure the proper quality of medical care for this category of citizens at the expense of the state, which is what the existing programs are aimed at.

Also, the country successfully pursues a policy to increase the birth rate and support large families. For example, the "maternity capital" program has been successfully implemented, in which a target certificate is issued for the birth of the second child, this amount is indexed each year by the percentage of inflation (if the certificate has not yet been used). Or another - the provision of a plot of land for housing construction at the birth of a third child.

Support for large families in Europe

The most important problem in the European states, discussed on the International Day of Families on May 15, is the birth rate problem. It is more acute in the advanced economies. How do European states solve such a question? Mainly through subsidies.

For example, in France, where the birth rate is at the highest level among the European community, there is a program called "Big Family". Thanks to her at the birth of each subsequent child, the family receives tax breaks. So, a family with four children does not pay taxes to the state.

In Germany, too, a large mother gets a tax bonus for each child born. And a plus for each child receives a monthly payment of 154 euros. In Sweden, the benefit increases with the appearance of the next family member. In addition, if the family is recognized as needy, the state accrues additional subsidies.
