Long tunic: how and with what to wear?

Long tunics are one of the most popular items of both summer and winter wardrobe. The variety of their styles and colors is amazing: in this variety one can find one that seems to fit any event in life.

History of tunics

Tunics as a piece of clothing appeared in the days of Ancient Rome. They were worn by both men and women, but appearing in a tunic in public was indecent - yet in those days it was something like underwear. The first tunics were two stitched together pieces of cloth with cutouts for the hands and head. To know wore long white tunics with loops of heavy fabric, decorated with drapes, stones and lace. The simple population wore more shortened tunics, knee length, muffled, grayish colors.

What is the difference between tunic and other wardrobe items?

The first and most important advantage is a visual correction of the figure. Long tunics are ideal for full women and skinny. In the first case, thanks to its flowing, free form, the tunic will not emphasize shortcomings, but visually draw the silhouette in a vertical direction, allowing it to look harmonious and attractive.

Thin girls tunic, on the contrary, will add forms. A loose cut will give a silhouette to femininity, make bends more inviting and attractive. A loose long tunic can be emphasized by a belt at the waist, visually forming the silhouette of an hourglass, which is so lacking in lean girls.

How to choose a tunic for the season?

There are a lot of tunic models: they differ in length, in cut, in colors and, of course, in material. A long tunic is the subject of a wardrobe, which can rightfully be called universal in terms of weather and temperature. The only question is what materials it is made of.

For a cool time of the year, you should choose models from more dense material. Externally, warm tunics resemble just elongated knitted sweaters. If a tunic with a long sleeve, it can be worn simply as a dress, without adding to it any additional items of the wardrobe. But if the tunic has short sleeves, as a rule, it is put on top of a tight-fitting or fitted T-shirt, shirt, golf or sweater.

Summer tunics are very diverse. Tunic-shirt, tunic-dress, tunic-T-shirt - all these summer models are usually made of light fabric. Summer tunics most often have short sleeves, but there are models with both sleeves three-quarters, and generally without them. The neckline is most often V-shaped, round or boat, clamps and collars are also found.

Slender girls can afford any bright, even screaming prints and colors of tunics, girls with forms should prefer a more monotonous, quiet models.

Very popular are long tunics with cuts, since it is in the summer that such a detail on clothes looks most interesting and appropriate. The cuts on the tunic can be not only on the sides, but also on the back. It is very convenient and practical, as in such clothes it is comfortable to stay in the heat in the summer. Side cuts divide the hem of the tunic into two parts, and not necessarily these parts should be equal in length. Sometimes the front part of the hem is shorter than the back. It turns out a tunic-mallet. This style is now very popular and is at the height of fashion.

Where to put on a tunic?

Of course, there are many models, many of which are acceptable for wearing in an office with a not very strict dress code. But the tunic still applies more to a more informal style. Tunics (both winter and summer) are ideal for meetings with friends, for walking around the city and outdoor recreation (if combined with leggings, jeans or trousers).

Returning to the topic of the office, I would like to say that there are models that will be acceptable for wearing at work, for example long tunic shirts. They can be combined with office trousers, or, if the tunic is long enough, worn as a dress shirt. Of course, the tunic for work should be light and solid. If any allowances in the dress code are allowed, then the colors should be as restrained and organic as possible: small light peas are allowed, a light translucent strip without pronounced contrasts.

With what to wear a long tunic?

You can wear tunics with almost anything. They perfectly match with any things and make the image noble and refined.

It is important to consider the following: the absolute majority of tunics have a free cut, so the bottom should be chosen to be more fitting, or at least straight. Excessively loose pants will make the silhouette too shapeless. We work in contrast (a loose tunic and tight pants) to create a harmonious silhouette.

A similar rule works with colors: if the trousers are bright and noticeable, the tunic should be more pastel, soft, muted, and vice versa.

Long tunics can be worn with jeans-skinny, straight jeans, narrowed trousers. Many wear them with denim and cotton shorts, this option is more suitable for young people.

Very light, translucent tunics are, in fact, beachwear: they are worn with swimsuits.

Tunic dresses are worn in the same way as usual. If the tunic-dress is of a calm basic shade (white, beige, gray, black, dark blue), you can combine it with unusual pantyhose. It will be very fresh and interesting to look small peas, a narrow vertical strip (it always has a good effect on our figure, visually stretching and lengthening it) or a fine mesh. By the way, the original tights fit girls who do not have any visible drawbacks of the figure below: stripes, peas, net and other decorative patterns will look ridiculous and ugly on large legs. Unfortunately, for the office, such options are often unacceptable.

Tunic Shoes

Tunics are very loyal to the choice of shoes. Winter and demi-season models can be worn with boots, boots, ankle boots, boots, sneakers, sneakers, etc. Stricter tunics will be perfectly combined with ballet shoes, boat shoes, topsiders or low-heeled shoes. Tunics long in the photo will look great with high-heeled shoes, because the vertical silhouette will visually stretch the legs, and the heel will lengthen them even more by lifting.

Accessories for tunics

With the choice of accessories under the tunic, usually also there is no problem. Again, harmony works on contrast (the simpler the tunic, the more vivid and ornate ornaments we can afford, and vice versa). Pendants, necklaces and necklaces are selected in accordance with the neckline of the tunic. The larger and more openly the cutout, the longer the decoration can be worn.
