Nobody could have expected that the debut film of the young unknown director Andrei Malyukov, conceived as a short one, would gather 35.4 million spectators and become a real visiting card of the Airborne Forces ("Uncle Vasya's troops" Margelov). The Soviet insurgent "In the zone of special attention", whose actors will be perceived as real paratroopers, shown on 23.02.1978, will become a cult in the history of the "winged division" and will cause an agiotage of admission to the Ryazan Higher Airborne School, a competition of 20 people per a place. Why did this happen?

The plot of the picture

In the action movie there is no abundance of bloody scenes and fierce enemies, but there is an interesting twisted plot, which makes you watch closely the vicissitudes of the main characters. The real case, investigated by the military correspondent Yevgeny Mesyatsev, is the basis of the film "In the Zone of Special Attention". Actors, the plot, the participation of real fighters of the Airborne Training Center in Gaizhunai (Lithuania) - everything makes the picture fascinating and reliable. The spectator seems to be involved in conducting military exercises, where the three reconnaissance groups of the Guards Parachute regiment of the "Southern" are instructed to find and neutralize the ZKP (disguised command post) of the "Northern" for the success of the ongoing operation to eliminate military facilities.

Landed for 150 kilometers from the alleged ZKP reconnaissance teams are not only for two days to get to the command post, but also to deceive the enemy, creating the illusion of targeting fuel depots and an airfield. Opponents are clever and worthy of each other: the "North" manages to capture the groups of Kirikov and Pakhomov, and only the soldiers of Lieutenant Tarasov have a chance to fulfill the task. Four of them: the former platoon warrant officer Volentir and Viktor Tarasov, newly appointed in his place, between whom understanding only arises during the course of events, and two conscript soldiers passing the most important exam in their lives.

The main characters in the film "In the zone of special attention", the actors who performed most of the work without duplicates, managed to do the impossible - not only to complete the task, but also to render harmless the four recidivists who fled the quarry and left a bloody trail behind them.

Tarasov and Volentir

In the film "In the zone of special attention" the actors and roles surprisingly joined together. And it's not just that Boris Galkin, who played Tarasov, who goes on assignment on the eve of his wife's birth, in 1977, actually became a father (he had a daughter Maria), and Mihail Volontir plays an ensign named Volentir. The hit in the image turned out to be so accurate that from this film Boris Galkin starts a series of roles of military personnel, and Volontir is still considered the best airborne ensign.

The role of Tarasov can be considered the absolute success of Boris Galkin, who is a direct descendant of Mikhail Kutuzov's sister. Graduate of the School. B. Shchukin graduated in 1977 from directing courses, dreaming about his own productions and films. But it was the actor's talent shown in this role that brought him the silver medal of AP Dovzhenko and the great love of the audience. His hero was able to convincingly convey how much the Soviet army is strong in spirit. Finding a corpse and a wounded woman, he takes the only right decision - to get in touch to call the police, realizing that this gives his coordinates and calls into question the fulfillment of the combat mission.

The spectator so empathizes with the hero and wishes him success, that the desperation of Tarasov, who discovered the models in the place of the alleged ZKP, seems an injustice of the universal scale. But where one can not cope, the second, who became during the execution of the assignment by the right hand of the lieutenant - warrant officer Volentir, comes to the rescue.

Moldovan actor Mihai Volontir, who died in 2015, was so fond of the audience due to star roles in the film "In the zone of special attention", the actors of which became his true friends, and "Gypsy", that Russian doctors did their best to save the man, never Not leaving his native Beltsy. In the action movie there are almost no female roles: the saleswoman in the performance of Elena Kuzmina and the granddaughter of the forester (Elena Tsyplakova), but the male characters are represented by a galaxy of magnificent actors. Major Moroshkina from the group of "Northern", confronting the fighters of Lieutenant Tarasov, Anatoly Kuznetsov plays magnificently. Together with Captain Zuev (Alexander Pyatkov), they very convincingly show a change in the mood of people performing the responsible assignment of the regiment commander. The joy of succeeding in replaying the enemy is suddenly replaced by astonished disappointment, when, in spite of all the measures taken, a small group of a young platoon from the Airborne Forces is stronger.

Young soldiers from the Tarasov platoon were played by novice actors Igor Ivanov and Sergei Volkosh. They did not have a happy novel with the cinema, although Sergei Volkosh, who plays in the Ostrov Theater, participated in 54 projects. Perhaps this is due to the fact that in the film "In the zone of special attention" actors are perceived as real paratroopers, for whom duty and task fulfillment are paramount.

In the role of commander of the regiment of the "South", until the end of believing in his fighters, Vladimir Zamansky, a wonderful actor, a master of a close-up, who knows how to convey the whole spectrum of human feelings, has starred. The image of the forester was also expressed by the talent of the honored artist of the RSFSR Nikolai Kryukov. He survived the war and the fascist captivity, being the master of the episode, he shows an unbroken man who has embarked on the path of criminals-recidivists.

Interesting facts about the filming process

A huge interest in the amphibious troops was also caused by the film, thanks to the personal care of General V. Margelov, the progenitor of this kind of army. He insisted that in the picture the reconnaissance teams should carry out the task in blue berets, although in reality a bright color can easily give a fighter to the enemy. Powerful aircraft IL-76, used by the "winged infantry", belonged to Aeroflot. They could not be shown in the film, but the symbols of belonging had to be painted almost every hand in every frame.

The decoration of the picture was the shooting of hand-to-hand combat, in which ensign Volentir confronted four armed criminals. On the court, he was replaced by Tadeusz Kasyanov, the famous master of martial arts, whose surname was not mentioned in the credits. The role was voiced not by Volontir himself, but by Nikolai Gubenko, People's Artist of the RSFSR.

During the preparation of the film, a lot of documentary material was filmed by the crew. He was supposed to be used in the director's version of the picture. But according to the requirements of secrecy, the films were destroyed. The film is considered the first part of the dilogy, but it is a completely completed artwork.

Music in the film

One of the successes of the picture is its musical design. Written in 1970 as a hymn of paratroopers, Mark Minkov's song on Igor Shaferan's poems was performed in the final by Eduard Labkovsky, well known in military units. He gave almost two thousand concerts for the soldiers of the Soviet, and then the Russian army. With this song, he will speak after two years in Afghanistan and other hot spots where the amphibious forces performed their duties.
