Imitation of brickwork with their own hands. How to glue wallpapers with an imitation of a brick masonry

Repair, as they say, can be compared to a fire. Of course, it serves good purposes, but it takes a lot of time and effort. So our resourceful fellow citizens are constantly trying to find ways how one can do without expensive finishing materials and technologies, using spectacular and convincing-looking substitutes.

Such visual effects include imitation of brickwork. It's no secret that in the corridor or bathroom this solution looks very stylish. But there are a few problems.

First, the cost of the brick has long been able to turn simple repairs into an event that will strike your budget, comparable to the consequences of the hurricane of the average hand. Secondly, imagine the amount of work that will have to be done when transporting the required volume of bricks to the upper floors of a multi-storey building! Willy-nilly will begin to look for a way, how to bypass all these obstacles.

A simple and effective method

On closer examination of the repairs that our compatriots make in their homes and apartments, it is possible to find out a very curious fact: it happens that imitation of brickwork is almost more expensive than a wall made of natural bricks! How is this possible? The mystery, explained only by the mystery of the Russian soul. But back from the lyrics to the point. Imitation on that and is called so that to assume as it is possible more economic and fast the manufacturing.

Therefore, we present you with the simplest and cheapest method of finishing, which perfectly imitates brickwork. Of course, you can choose a ceramic tile with a similar pattern, but only the masters in its packing may not be within reach. If we talk about the full "cheap", then the wallpaper with an imitation of brickwork is not the best solution when it comes to normal repairs. However, we will also discuss this method in more detail.

How to glue wallpapers with "bricks"

First of all you need to buy the "right" wallpaper. Do not choose simple paper versions of them, as such "masonry" will look frankly cheap and gone. You should buy heavy vinyl wallpaper, which can create a certain volume effect, giving the whole composition completeness.

Accordingly, glue for them should be chosen so that they can withstand their considerable weight. Take into account that the real brickwork never differs unnatural evenness, and therefore do not especially carefully prepare the wall before gluing. Naturally, large potholes and cracks need to be sealed, but a fanatical leveling of the surface is not required.

Among other things, do not repeat the blunders of many newbie designers. If there is a ledge on the wall, never glue the folds of bricks to their bricks with wallpaper! It looks just awful. In general, all angles in this case it is better to leave free, painting the vacant place in the tone of the wallpaper.

And further. Do you remember how during the repair you cut out the holes for the sockets in the wallpaper? Alas, but in this case you can not do it. It is better to limit the zone with the socket to an empty space, proceeding analogously to the case with corners.

We become owners of the "factory"

First we will have to think about making excellent shapes, in which our imitating texture will be made. We suggest you make them from high quality cardboard with a thickness of about three millimeters. We think that if in your school in the distant past there were lessons of work, then with this work you will be coping quite easily. Do not forget about the jumpers: the most spectacular is imitation, when their thickness is within 10 mm.

Worst of all, with the choice of material from which our imitation of masonry will be made. Ideal option - inexpensive acrylic putty, which has excellent performance. If you love accuracy in everything, then you can even add a paint of the appropriate shade, so that the "masonry" was indistinguishable from the real one.

However, if you are still in doubt, leave your native white color: afterwards it can easily be repainted in the way your sense of beauty requires.

We prepare the foundation correctly

The visual attractiveness of the finished structure will largely depend on this stage, so we do not recommend hacking. If the walls do not differ in ideal evenness, it is desirable to correct this misunderstanding even before the beginning of the work. All excavations and potholes are sealed with putty, we remove all areas that can be broken or crumbled as high as possible.

Finally, you can start working! In order to maximally smooth imitation of the brickwork, it is better to mount the supports in advance by yourself (the beams are perfectly suitable). Immediately determine all the most problematic places, for example, the zones near the outlets and others, beforehand disconnecting the supply of voltage to them. If it is a bathroom, it is better to check in advance the quality of all the cranes and pipes. After that make sure that the putty has already acquired the necessary consistency.

We install the form, which we lovefully made on the wall, fixing it, if necessary, with supports. It is very advisable to pick up a spatula, the dimensions of which will fully correspond to the internal measurements (bricks). After this, you can proceed to fill the internal cavities with putty.

Trying to do this ideally is not advisable: it is very unusual for such an imitation of brickwork. It is better to make it more natural by hand, deliberately leaving roughness and potholes on the surface , which will successfully imitate the natural structure of the material.

We continue to work

For a few minutes, we hold the mold on the surface of the material, then carefully disconnect it, using a spatula if necessary. We put it close to the finished block, after which we repeat the entire procedure anew. It is best to move from the bottom up, since in this case the upper row will rest on the "masonry" below. If you want the appearance of complete naturalness, it is very desirable not to forget about the bandages of bricks, which in this brickwork will necessarily be.

In a word, in order to have a qualitative imitation of the brickwork, the panels should be placed neatly in the corners. If you do everything correctly, you will get a surface ideally ideally correlated with this texture, which from a distance will not be easy to distinguish from real brickwork.

If you can boast a particularly refined artistic taste, you can tint each "brick" individually. As a result, you will get such a wall that even a professional mason will not immediately suspect a fake in it! To get even more naturalistic, you can even paint the rows between the "bricks", imitating the real color of the cement slurry.

As a rule, the cardboard form described by us is enough for one and a half hundreds of such "bricks", so that often it will not have to be changed.

other methods

If you do not want to bother with making molds, you can go the simpler way. In the first case, we will need all the same acrylic putty, which must be applied to the wall with a fairly thick layer. Of course, that before you start working the surface should be prepared as qualitatively as possible by covering all potholes and cracks, otherwise you will spend a lot of material wasted.

Keep in mind that acrylic dries quite quickly, so do not cover a few square meters in just one pass. After studying how to make an imitation of brickwork in this way, it is better to calculate your need for putty in advance and accurately, otherwise the excess will have to be thrown out in the form of large fossilized blocks.

After applying and leveling on the surface of the putty (with a spatula or even a stick), a "masonry" pattern is applied. Of course, in this case, ideal lines will not work, but this method can be used if necessary to create something more avant-garde.

Paint

If you are unwilling to deal with a capricious and quick-drying acrylic putty, in principle, it is quite possible to do just one color of the corresponding shade. Apply it best with a roller: so you will not only achieve optimum savings, but also create a natural rough structure on the surface. In this case, the imitation of brickwork will not differ much from the natural masonry made of bricks.

Plaster

But still much more reliable to use proven and time-tested materials. Paint - an inexpensive and practical solution, but only to achieve from it a completely natural kind of "masonry" you just will not work.

So imitation of brickwork from plaster is a much better solution. How to carry out the work on applying the material? In general, this is not unusual. The surface is carefully prepared, carefully covering all its potholes and irregularities.

How to apply?

Apply the plaster with a spatula. Rows between the "bricks" are outlined to him, and the intervals between them are painted over with the color that most successfully imitates the color of the standard mortar. The "bricks" themselves paint exactly the same as the gaps between them. The advantage of this method is that your fantasy certainly will not be limited.

Such imitation of brickwork in the interior will make your housing absolutely different from the others. Among other things, you can perform a "substitution" not only for brick, but even for natural stone. Of course, it's a little more difficult to draw, but all efforts will pay off many times!
