How to replace the timing belt "Priora" with their own hands?

The gas distribution mechanism is one of the main components of any car. In turn, for the timing, the main knot is the belt. It is from its serviceability that the future of the engine will depend - either it will travel smoothly hundreds of thousands of kilometers, or become unfit for life and become forever. The latter case occurs just because of a belt rupture, which is highly undesirable for valves and the entire ICE as a whole. Therefore, in order to be sure of the trouble-free operation of the engine, at least once a week, it is necessary to diagnose the belt for tears and, if necessary, to make a replacement.

How is the timing belt "Priora VAZ" replaced by one's own hands?

First we need to disconnect the battery negative terminal. Despite the fact that the timing belt has no direct connection with the electrical equipment, this stage we need to remove the generator belt. Only after this it is possible to start dismantling and installing the necessary part.

Now we need to bring the piston of the first cylinder to the BMT position, then use a carbide wrench to loosen the bolt securing the tension roller. Timing belt "Priora VAZ" must be slightly weakened. To do this, turn the tension roller, and when the necessary result is reached, that is, when the mechanism is loose, we remove it from the pulley of the camshaft and the water pump.

To rotate the bolt securing the drive pulley, you must lock the crankshaft from turning. In this case, remove the cap in the clutch housing and use a large screwdriver to hold the shaft behind the teeth of the flywheel ring.

Next, we pick up the key for 17 and turn out the crankshaft pulley bolt . The next step is to take it out with the washer and remove the drive pulley of the generator. After that, remove the washer from the timing belt pulley and remove the strap itself.

All that's left is just to install a new mechanism and check its state in action. But before that it is important to note that the place for its installation should not contain dust, dirt and grease. Therefore, the surface of the device is carefully treated with a cloth dampened with gasoline or alcohol. Only after it has been cleaned, we install the timing belt "Priora VAZ" on the nominal place. The next steps are similar to the removal, only in the reverse order. The only thing to focus on is the location of the generator drive pulley. It should be installed only in one direction. At the same time, the groove of the device must fall on the tide of the timing belt drive. After installation, do not forget to adjust the tension of the part.

Timing belt "Priora" - when to change?

Manufacturers recommend replacing the device every 80-100 thousand kilometers. However, you should regularly diagnose the strap for tears and cracks. They should not be on its surface. If it was found at least one cracks, it is necessary to change the timing belt "Priora" VAZ. Otherwise, this small cracks will grow into a larger one and cause the belt to break.
