How to play 'mafia'?

Few people know that this game was invented by our compatriots back in 1989, when the TV was a very popular series "Sprut". Two former graduates of Moscow State University are still arguing about authorship, who, being students and roommates in a dormitory, invented entertainment using playing cards. Today, this fun has become insanely popular, and many are interested in the question of how to play the "mafia". Well, today we will talk about this.

Mafia rules: a brief description

The presenter participates in the game and hands out cards. If you get a red suit, then you are an "honest", "peaceful resident", if the black one is a "mafia".

The game is divided into two periods - "night" and "day." During the onset of the first night, red card holders close their eyes, "sleep", and members of the "mafia" look at each other to remember their companions, that is, "get acquainted".

Then comes the "day" when all players open their eyes and try to identify which of them is a "mafia" and who should be "killed." Since the "mafia" knows each other in person, it is interested in the choice to fall on one of the "peaceful" ones. The choice of one or another candidate is supported by verbal arguments. The one for whom more than half of the members voted, opens the card and leaves the game.

With the onset of the next "night", the "mafia" chooses (by the nods of the head, gestures, glances) of the one who will be the victim. "Day" leading the name of the murderer is announced, but his card is not disclosed.

After the next "night" comes "morning", when the "mafia" and "residents" should close their eyes. Only the "commissar" (a participant with a certain card of a red suit) opens his eyes, chooses one of the players and, using gestures, finds out from the leader who this person is. The Commissioner uses the information received "in the afternoon" to convince the others of the involvement or, conversely, of the player's non-involvement.

How to play "mafia": the end of the game

The end of the fun comes when the "residents" manage to kill all the members of the "mafia" or, conversely, when the "mafiosi" disable all "peaceful" ones.

How to play the "mafia": the number of players

In general, it is optimal if 11-15 people take part in the entertainment (4-6 rounds of the game are calculated from the calculation of day-night - one round). It is desirable to have an odd number of people, so that there are no problems with equality of votes.

The ratio of "mafia" and "residents" is arbitrary. Black and red suits can be roughly the same number (optimal is the situation when the first more than one than the second). You can also do so, that "Mafiosi" will initially be much larger in number than "peaceful" - then it will be more difficult to play, which means it is more interesting.

How to play "mafia": the meaning of entertainment

Fun consists of two main semantic components: mathematical and psychological. The first is that every "day" the participants need to remember who voted for whom, what motivated their choice, who ultimately turned out to be the "peaceful" or "mafia". If you carefully calculate everything, it will be easier to determine who is sitting with a black card - this will be someone who voted for the "murder" of honest voters more often.

Psychological sense is that participants need to have certain acting skills, eloquence, in order to be able to convince the rest of their belonging to the "inhabitants", and not to the "mafia".

How to play the game "mafia": a place for fun

The best option is a room where participants can be located around the perimeter (on the floor, on sofas, chairs, chairs, etc.). As practice shows, the game plays well in the fresh air (in the park, on the beach), as well as in the train compartment and the train car. After the distribution, each person should gently peep his card, and then hide it (for example, put it in his pocket of clothing) and get it only when his candidacy is chosen for voting.
