How to move the Excel table to Word 2003, 2007, 2010

If you ask any user what program is best used to build the tables, then he will answer that "Excel". And this is exactly so. But no one will argue that in another office program - in the "Word" - sometimes you also need to create tables. Fortunately, it is possible to move this item from one program to another.

This article will discuss how to move the spreadsheet from Excel to Word. Three most popular methods of this operation will be disassembled. All of them are sufficiently different from each other, so it is recommended that you finish reading the article to the end, in order to determine for yourself what is the best way to use it.

Moving a table from "Excel" to "Word"

Before proceeding to a detailed analysis of all three ways, how to move the Excel table to Word, let's briefly skim through their essence. Three ways will be presented below:

  • Normal copying;
  • Copying with a special insert;
  • Paste from the document.

The first method will allow you to quickly move the table from Excel to the Word. However, for this you need to open each program individually. There are also more significant disadvantages, which we will discuss directly in the analysis of the method itself.

The second method also uses two programs, but with it you can associate the Excel table with the table "Vorda". How this, and why it is needed, will be considered in the very analysis.

The third method, on the other hand, allows you to work only in the "Word" and insert the table from "Excel" without opening the table editor. But in it there are both advantages and disadvantages.

Now we will proceed to analyze the ways how to move the Excel table to Word, and you will find out which one will suit you best.

The first way: normal copying

So, first of all, we will analyze the simplest way of moving the spreadsheet from Excel to Word:

  • First of all, you need to open a Word document in which you want to insert a table, as well as the Excel program with the same table.
  • Now in "Excel" select the fragment that you want to move to "Vord".
  • It must be copied. There are three ways to do this. The first is to right-click (PCM) the selected area and select the "Copy" item in the context menu. The second is to click the corresponding icon in the toolbar, which is located in the "Clipboard" area. Its exact location can be seen in the image below. The third way is the simplest - you need to press CTRL + C.

  • After the item is copied, go to the document "Word". First click the left mouse button (LMB) in the place where you want to insert the table.
  • Now you need to insert it directly. You can do this in three ways. Open the context menu by pressing the RMB, and select "Save Original Formatting" from the menu. Click the corresponding icon on the toolbar. You can also see its location in the image below. The third one implies the use of hot keys, only this time CTRL + V.

As a result, the table will be inserted. This was the first way how to move a table from Excel to Word 2007. By the way, this instruction will be suitable for other versions of the program, albeit with some changes.

The second way: copying with a special insert

Now we'll figure out how to move the table from Excel to Word 2010. It is also worth making a remark that this method is suitable for other versions of the program:

  • So, you again need to open two documents - Excel and Word. In "Excel" select the desired area and place it on the clipboard, one of those methods that were mentioned above.
  • After that, go to the program "Word". You need to open the drop-down menu of the Paste tool. To do this, click on the arrow below it.

  • In the menu, select "Special Paste ..." - the same window will open. In it, you need to switch to the "Link" item and select "Microsoft Excel sheet (object)" in the "How" field.
  • After the done actions, click "OK" - the table will be inserted into the document.

You may notice that the table is inserted in the form of a picture - this means that you can not edit it by making any edits. Of course, this refers to the minuses of this method. However, there are pluses - the table will automatically shrink, assuming a size that fits perfectly into your document.

The third way: inserting from the document

With the third method, you can generally move the table from Excel to Word without using the Excel program itself. This is done very simply:

  • In the program "Word" you need to go to the "Insert" tab.
  • In it, click on the "Object" icon, which is located in the "Text" area.

  • In the window that opens, go to the "Create from file" tab. There, click the "Browse" button and in the explorer that opens, select the .exe file.
  • As a result, it remains only to click on the "OK" button, and the table will be inserted.

This method has only one drawback, in addition to the fact that the table will be inserted as a picture, it will be inserted in its entirety, that is, you can not select the area you need.

Conclusion

As a result, there are three ways how you can insert a table from Excel to Word. All of them are good in their own way and each has its own shortcomings and dignities. But how to use it is up to you.
