An inscription from trees as a kind of geoglyph

Large, most often a giant pattern on Earth is called geoglyph. An inscription from trees is one of its varieties, made by planting seedlings or seeds in a strictly defined order. As a rule, such an object can only be viewed from a height. This kind, one might say, of monumental art was not secret, but did not attract much attention to itself for a long time. The changes began with the widespread dissemination of satellite photographs of the earth's surface on the Internet.

On the expanses of the former Soviet land

In the days of the USSR, the compilation of various slogans and appeals from planted trees and shrubs became widespread. One of the most popular were phrases and words related to the founder of the party and state. The inscription "Lenin" from trees is found in different parts of the former Soviet Union. For example In Belarus, Kharkov region of Ukraine, in various regions of Russia (the inscription located near Ulyanovsk is now partially cut down).

There are other versions of the phrases - "100 Lenin", "1870-1970 100 - Lenin" "Lenin 100 years." They were created in many places of the former USSR in 1970, when the country widely celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of its founder. The next series of similar geoglyphs was created in 1972 to the 50th anniversary of the formation of the USSR. There were other inscriptions to other dates. For example, by the 60th anniversary of the USSR, the 30th, 40th and 60th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism, the 50th and 60th anniversary of the October Revolution, objects were created that glorified the ruling party (CPSU). The settlement of Aktanash (Tatarstan, Russia) has an inscription from Aktanash trees, there are also such geoglyphs as "XXV" and "XXX". The location of these facilities is Ukraine and Moldova. Apparently, the Ukrainian version is dedicated to the next Congress of the CPSU. Again, Ukraine has an inscription from the trees "2000" in Vinnytsia region, in Russia there is a similar inscription, "200", in the Bryansk region.

The most interesting - being on the surface, these words and phrases do not read, at best they can be seen from the plane. And only the man's entry into space has opened this kind of art in all its completeness and diversity.

Foreign objects

Outside the former Soviet Union, among the geoglyphs, inscriptions from trees are much less common. So, in the former Yugoslavia there is an object "Tito", created in honor of the commander of the partisan army of this country Josip Broz Tito. After the war, he for a long time was the leader of the Yugoslav communists and the president of the country. His death led to disputes over power in the country, the emergence of civil war and the collapse of the state. So Tito can safely be considered the only president of post-war Yugoslavia.

In Bulgaria, too, there is an inscription from the trees - "Dobre reached the Sophia enclave"

In memory of the glorious victory

One of the most significant activities to create geoglyphs recently was the thematic planting of trees in the Korochansky district (Belgorod region). A unique artificial grove was created near the village of Pogorelovka, near the town of Korochi. In that place, which is called the Brother's Grave, in 1943 the Nazi occupiers shot the local residents. The inscription from the trees "70 years of Victory" is a composition of characters 30 meters high (letters) and 70 meters (figures). A total of 10 thousand pine seedlings were planted on an area of about 1 hectare. The inscription will be clearly visible from the air and from the space near-earth orbit, though it will be necessary to wait a little while the trees will grow.

The geoglyph bookmark was created in this year 2015, on April 25. The ceremony was attended by guests and official delegations from all regions of the Central Federal District, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District Alexander Beglov, Governor of the Belgorod Region Evgeny Savchenko, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Interior Ministry. In addition, the regional public council attached to the action was joined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the students of the cadet class of the local school are young riot police. The police, Cossacks and people's volunteers were involved in policing and security.

At the rally, the speakers noted that the pawned forest would represent the greatness and significance of the triumph over fascism in 1945 and remind us of the price of millions of lives paid by our people for this victory.

It remains to add that the inscription from the trees in the Belgorod region is part of the project "Les Pobedy", which is implemented by the ecological movement "Green Russia". This is an all-Russian public organization. The purpose of the project is planting trees in memory of 27 million citizens who fell into the severe year of great trials. Almost the number of trees planted within the framework of the action, and should symbolize the human losses of the countries of the former USSR. In the Korochansky region, 13,000 people have not returned from the battlefields, so its residents warmly supported this action.

But the inscription from the trees in the Belgorod region is not the only one created in honor of the glorious Victory. Similar geoglyphs are planted in other regions of Russia. In particular, seven thousand seedlings were used in the Crimea to create such an object. The most grandiose inscription was created in the Omsk region, the action participants in the number of 300 people planted about 35 thousand pine seedlings in an area of 605 hectares. Dimensions of the letters amounted to 100 x 75 m. So far, this creation can be watched by passengers departing from Omsk aircraft, see the same inscription from trees from space can be in 10-15 years, when young pine trees grow.

Conclusion

As you can see from this material, geoglyphs are a fairly common form of decorating the earth's surface since ancient times - to take at least famous drawings in the Nazca desert (I wonder who could have considered them from a bird's eye view or from the earth's orbit a few thousand years ago?). They are created in our time. But what is characteristic, inscriptions from trees are found mainly within the former USSR. Obviously, the reason here can be one - the creation of a geoglyph is very time-consuming and costly, it is obvious that the figure can be understood by a larger number of observers than the inscription in one of the world's languages. However, this is only an assumption.
