How to make quail cells for yourself
Quail eggs today is difficult to surprise. Advertising in the media has shown many of their undeniable advantages over other bird eggs. How difficult is it to make quail cells? It turns out that, even with little skill in working with the instrument, the home master is able to make such premises for birds.
Cages for quail can be made of wood, metal and plastic. Depending on the existing skills of the home master, as well as tools in the workshop, the material is selected. Wooden cells are easier to make. Bruski size 30h30 or 40h40 mm is easy to cut into the right size, drill holes for self-tapping screws and assemble the structure. You can make all the elements of wood, even the bottom of the cage, but you should take into account that daily cleaning will require additional time. Therefore, the bottom is often made of metal mesh.
In the presence of a welding machine, as well as the skills of performing welded work, the cells for quails are better prepared from steel profile pipes. The main elements can be made of a square shaped pipe with dimensions of 20x20x1.5 mm. The cost of such material is comparable in value to the tree. The advantage will be the use of a more rigid material with a reliable fixation in the design of the product. Another important advantage of this cell will be the possibility of making a multi-tiered cell. This will allow for the same area, which is occupied by one cell, to place several identical cells on different floors.
For summer maintenance of quails, it is possible to produce a simplified design in which a welded galvanized mesh is used to form the frame and the entire cell. Such quail cells can be installed under light canopies to protect birds from sun and weather. But it is better to build a room where the quail will be kept all year round. In a detached or attached building it is easier to create conditions for a comfortable microclimate, optimal lighting and convenience of work.
Modern perepelovody share in the network their experience of creating quail farms, some are even ready to provide a drawing of the cell for quail. They indicate that a convenient cage should have wheels. In this case, when carrying out maintenance work, they have mobility, they can be moved, placed in the desired location and cleans the premises of debris.
What else is important? Metal cells should be coated with a primer, and even better painted with a combination primer such as "three in one", which in its composition contains substances that convert rust to phosphate iron. Coloring of cell elements for quails with a combined primer allows obtaining an excellent enamel coating. It resists corrosion and can serve for decades.
The bottom of the metal cages is made of galvanized mesh. It is necessary to install a removable sheet below it, on which the litter is collected. It is easy to clean from contamination and set in place.
In one cell usually contain from 10 to 25 quails. Such a dense planting does not interfere with high quail productivity. Cells (its dimensions) are constructed according to special criteria for the required area for one bird head. Usually such a room for a bird has a length of 500 mm, a depth of 250 mm and a height of 200-270 mm. Between the tiers leave a gap of about 75-100 mm, which allows you to establish a leaf sheet.
Taking into account the average human growth, cellular multi-layer batteries make no more than five tiers. The weight of such cells is relatively small, about 80-100 kg. This makes it easy to move them on a flat concrete floor. It is important that vertical stands of metal cells for quail be made of a more powerful shaped rectangular tube, for example, 20x40x2 mm. The cage to the posts can be welded or fixed by means of a bolted joint or rivet nuts installed in the racks themselves. Then it is easy to remove one of the tiers and perform repairs (if necessary).
One of the important conditions for keeping quails is to protect them from drafts. Plastic sandwich panels, which builders use to form slopes on windows, will help here. These panels are easily cut into the right size, their surface is smooth and smooth. They can easily be washed with an ordinary sponge, water-soaked or using detergent solutions. Some quail guides instead of metal grids have adapted to install plastic grids with a 10x10 mm cell. They are installed even on the bottom. The quail's paws average about 18 mm, so they will not fall into the cells.
Cells for quails are constantly being improved. There are new, easy-to-use materials. Therefore, the independent production of such cells can be an interesting hobby, and for some very profitable business.
