How to make a shelter of polycarbonate. Polycarbonate shed drawing

Polycarbonate is an innovative building material that has already become quite popular. For a short time in the market, he pushed aside the recently demanded film, glass and wood. At first polycarbonate was used only in the country house for the device of greenhouses and greenhouses because it perfectly passes sunlight, has a good safety factor and is easy to install. But later, landscape designers drew attention to other of its virtues.

Why polycarbonate?

When decorating the territory of the countryside, one of the most pressing issues is the arrangement of a comfortable recreation area that would be located outside the house, somewhere on the lawn, and also shelters for the car. You can solve these problems in different ways. But the main of them still remains the construction of the pavilion. The polycarbonate canopy is easiest to make, besides, it is not necessary to call a master - you can make everything yourself. In addition, this design gives its owner a maximum of benefits.

Types of material

So far only two types of polycarbonate are known, which are used for the construction of canopies - a cellular and a monolithic thermoplastic. The first is a panel consisting of several layers of transparent or opaque plastic, which are joined together by vertical stiffeners along the fibers of the material. The voids are filled with air, which gives polycarbonate excellent thermal insulation properties. The honeycomb sheets are well bent even in the usual, so-called cold state. Therefore, the polycarbonate canopy can be made even the most complex and bizarre shape.

Monolithic polymer has its advantages. It absorbs well the ultraviolet and has saturated colors, and, for all its strength, has a light enough weight. It is used not only in construction, but also in other areas of industry, which includes high-tech systems.

Advantages of this material

Polycarbonate canopy can be of any design, but each of them will have clear advantages, which should be said. And the most important thing is the durability of the structure. Also very important is the fact that this material is easy to install and does not require any special care. It provides high transparency or opacity of the structure, depending on the need, and also performs protective functions against the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays.

The material has a beautiful appearance, and most importantly, it is produced in a wide range of colors. And another very important aspect is low cost. Canopies made of polycarbonate, the price of which varies depending on the size, will still be cheaper than wood or metal. One sheet of material costs from 1400 to 10 750 rubles. This range of prices is due to its size and thickness.

How to choose the right one

When deciding which polycarbonate to purchase, it is necessary to determine three parameters. This is the thickness, color and quality. In order to do it correctly, you need to determine the purpose of the structure. To select the thickness of the material take into account the snow and wind loads, as well as a step-like step. Do not interfere and some practical advice on this matter:

  • Four-millimeter sheets are suitable for the device greenhouses, greenhouses, as well as various advertising structures;
  • From a plate in 6-8 mm it is possible to make a partition, a roof, a visor or a canopy to the house from a polycarbonate of color chosen by you;
  • A panel of 10 mm is usually used for the construction of vertical surfaces;
  • Plates with a thickness of 16 mm or more are suitable for buildings that must withstand truly enormous loads, for example, parking lots.

As for color, this is also a very important nuance, since the color of the plates can be of different intensity and transparency. For example, the sheets of turquoise, blue and green are suitable for a canopy over the pool. But as a peak over the sales counter, these tones can not be used, because they will distort the original color of the goods placed inside.

The quality of polycarbonate depends only on its manufacturer. Products of well-known firms are always distinguished by reliability and ecological safety, and also have a protective layer from the influence of ultraviolet, which is applied to the face of the sheet.

Necessary tools and materials

To install a polycarbonate canopy with your own hands, you need to calculate and purchase everything you need to produce these works. The following materials will be required:

  • Press washers and anchor bolts (the latter are useful only when the pavilion will be installed on a solid surface);
  • Self-tapping screws with galvanized coating;
  • Mixture of cement, sand and gravel, if necessary to mount the pillars for support;
  • Pipes for manufacturing pillars with a square section of 60 x 60, 80 x 80 or 100 x 100 mm;
  • Cellular plates with a thickness of 8 to 10 mm;
  • Pipes for the crate section of 20 x 40 mm and for girders - 40 x 60 or 60 x 60 mm;
  • A bearing arch, which you can do yourself, but you should remember that in such structures you need to withstand a ten-degree or greater angle of the roof.

Tools that will be needed for the production of work: a welding machine, a screwdriver, a circular with disks, an electric jig saw, a level and a shovel.

Calculations

Very often the owners of country houses do not invite masters, but prefer to do almost everything themselves. To quickly and beautifully carry out the work on the arrangement of the territory, you need to know how to make a canopy of polycarbonate yourself.

Before the works on installation of such a construction are started, it is necessary to make its design with drawings. To do this, you need to calculate the size of the frame and the load that it will withstand in view of the level of precipitation and wind power characteristic of your region. Proceeding from this, they select the necessary material. An uncomplicated drawing of the polycarbonate canopy is presented in this article.

Installation of the structure, the first stage

When building a canopy, the main thing is the layout of the site where it will be located. After this, digging in lengths of 0.5-1.5 m, in which frame racks will be mounted, is digged. The depth of the holes depends on the height of the pavilion itself. In them I install the parts to which frame frames will be fixed, they are poured with concrete. Next, remove the soil throughout the canopy to a depth of 10-20 cm, and instead of it fall asleep a so-called pillow from sand and gravel, carefully compact it. Then the finishing coat is laid in the form of a lawn grate, paving slab or simply make a concrete screed.

A canopy in a courtyard made of polycarbonate is usually installed on a frame made of material that has already been used for other outbuildings to maintain the style of the interior. The basis can be wooden, aluminum or steel billets.

Installation of the structure, the second stage

The final stage of the installation is the fixing of the sheets. First, you need to prepare the panels of the correct size (see the drawing of the canopy from polycarbonate). To do this, they are cut using tools. In this work, it is important that after cutting, the length of the slab should be greater than the perimeter of the arch by 10-15 cm. It is important to know here that after cutting the polycarbonate sheet, the protective film applied from its front side should not be removed.

Now you need to attach the profile bottom to the arch so that its step is equal to the layout of the sheets. Next, fix the panels using self-tapping screws. To do this, drill holes 2 mm less than the landing size of the press washer. Then screw the screws, and their hats are hidden under the protective caps.

After the two adjacent plates have been fixed, the docking profiles are closed with a lid. At the very end of the installation, the side parts of the sheets are necessarily protected. This is done by installing end profiles, which are fixed either with screws or glued.
