How to equip the power supply in Crimea: scheme

The year 2014 was remembered by many as the date of Crimea joining the Russian Federation. Many people reacted to this news ambiguously. But the very fact of accession took place, so it was necessary to start caring about the citizens who inhabit the present Republic of Crimea. Providing these people with gas, electricity and water - these were the most important issues already at the time of the peninsula's attribution to the Russian Federation. It was necessary to think over the electricity supply of the Crimea (scheme, explanations). This was done by the relevant organizations.

Energy of Crimea before separation from Ukraine

In and of itself, the peninsula has experienced a terrible shortage of electricity since Soviet times. There they wanted to create a nuclear power plant, but when the Chernobyl disaster occurred, all these works died out. And after that the USSR collapsed, industrial production began to rapidly lose momentum, hence the lowering of the level of power consumption. It is because of these events that the energy deficit has decreased, and the need for building nuclear power plants has disappeared by itself.

But over time, new problems arose. Already in the early 2000s, the Ukrainian authorities decided to replace the gas with electricity. In CHPPs and boiler-houses a restriction on gas consumption was introduced. People had to switch to full electrical supply: water heaters, heaters.

Accordingly, the lack of energy again appeared. Authorities tried to provide the people with alternative energy from SES (solar power stations), but this was not enough. And it was at this moment that the unrest in Ukraine itself began, and this problem has gone to the background. In fact, with the consequences of this attitude to energy, the Russian Federation still struggles. The scheme of electricity supply to Crimea from Russia began to be built almost immediately after the accession of the peninsula to the territory of the Russian Federation.

What provides Crimea with energy at the moment?

To date, the supply of electricity to the peninsula is carried out by Rostov NPP and other suppliers. Given the lack of its own nuclear power plant, the authorities of the Crimea in 2014 had to formalize several IGS (mobile gas turbine stations). The electricity supply of Crimea - the scheme associated with the Rostov NPP - experiences a slightly smaller than before, but still a shortage.

Also, energy supplies are performed by thermal power plants. Among them:

  • Simferopol TPP;
  • The Sevastopol thermal power station;
  • Kamysh-Burunskaya CHPP;
  • Sakskaya TPP and others.

On the territory of the Crimea in the period from 2010 to 2012, four SES were built. But the energy they generate is too small to meet the needs of the population. Solar power plants continue to work, but only on them the peninsula can not exist. That is, the entire energy supply system is presented as a scheme for external power supply in the Crimea, as the Republic can not independently provide itself with the power.

What were your plans for 2014?

After the signing of the law on the entry of Crimea into the Russian Federation, the question of supplying the energy of the peninsula arose. At the time of March 2014, the options were as follows:

  1. To build several gas thermal power plants, the electricity supply to the Crimea (the scheme assumes the construction of a branch from the South Stream) will be carried out directly across the peninsula.
  2. Air or submarine way to lay cables from the Taman Peninsula. Using local generation is not required. This single-line scheme of electricity supply in the Crimea will require only the presence of power lines in good condition.
  3. Partly use the supply of power through the power line from the Taman Peninsula, while having a small generation in the Republic.

In the latter two options, it is necessary, through the strengthening of ties with Russia, to fully establish the electricity supply to the Crimea (the scheme fits any, the choice is not fundamental).

2014 - present: what's done?

The autumn of 2014 was significant. Ukraine has limited the supply of energy to the territory of the peninsula, virtually depriving it of electricity. But taking into account the fact that from August 2014 the energy system of Crimea was already "under the supervision" of Russia, a tender for laying the cable through the Kerch Strait was announced at once. Two organizations came to the final of this competition: JSC VO Technopromexport and OAO Stroytransgaz. Construction was started.

Ukrainian activists tried in every way to prevent this. There was a detonation of power lines in the Kherson region. After the restoration, the organizers of the power block partially removed their restrictions, and the 220 kV "Kakhovskaya-Titan-Krasnoperekopsk" power line was launched.

December 2015 proved to be that the scheme of electricity supply to the electrical networks of the Crimea was finally built and started its work. The second such event happened in a couple of weeks - the next way was laid.

What is available today?

The construction of two TPPs in Simferopol and Sevastopol was approved as early as the end of 2015. The scheme of electricity supply to Crimea will be presented as follows: these stations will have to produce sufficient energy to provide the entire peninsula. This process will be carried out with the help of natural gas.

The commissioning of these facilities is in 2018. And their power will be about 470 MW.

In addition, four lines of the energy bridge from the Krasnodar Territory have been launched. Of course, this news is very pleased with the inhabitants of the Crimea, but the problem of own electricity supply remains acute.

Finally

No matter how successful the energy supply of the Crimea (the scheme is from the RF), it still needs its generation, like air. After all, any damage to the laid cables can leave the entire peninsula without power. And given the limited supply of gas, life in the Crimea will turn into a nightmare.

In addition, the Crimea has a good potential for the development of alternative energy sources - this makes it possible in the future to implement power supply, including in this way.

At a regional forum in Yalta, Vladimir Putin mentioned this problem. He acknowledged that misunderstandings with the Republic's energy supply have not yet been fully resolved. Putin promised to successfully solve this issue by 2017-2018. In addition, he noted the rapid completion of the construction of the first hydroelectric power station. So, really in the near future the situation with electricity in the Crimea will change for the better.
