Rapunzel was happy to leave the tower, but the wicked stepmother, after having examined this, cut off her magical hair, and she herself sent to live in poverty in the forest more often. When the prince came to see his heart's sweetheart, he came upon a hideous old woman who blinded him, so that he could not find his beloved for ever. The poor blind prince wandered the whole year through the forest until he came upon the hut in which Rapunzel and his twin children lived. For joy, the heroine of the tale cried, and her tears became a healing for the young prince. Since then, they have lived happily ever after in the royal castle.
