High-speed trams. High-speed tram in Moscow

The possibility of launching such transport in the Russian capital as high-speed trams began to be discussed for a long time. In 2005, the project for laying such a line was presented at one of the press conferences by the chairman of the public movement "Muscovites for the tram" A. Morozov, the representative of UITP V. Tikhonov and the editor of the publishing house "Railway Depot" A. Miasnikov. Prospects for the development of this type of transport for a long time were considered by the authorities of the capital. At the moment (2015), a decision has been made to implement four high-speed tramway projects: to Biryulyovo, to the Lianozovo platform and to the Ivanovo and Northern regions. It is planned that in the coming years all these branches will begin to function.

How did the idea come about

In Europe, high-speed trams are used quite widely. There are such lines also in our country: in Volgograd, Ust-Ilimsk, Kazan and Stary Oskol. Of course, they are not very large, but the reviews of the citizens deserve very good results. In Ukraine, in Kiev, such trams were launched even in the times of the USSR - in 1978. So the new idea of using these light, fast and at the same time economical TS can not be called. According to the authorities, by launching high - speed trams in Moscow , it is possible to significantly reduce the burden on other types of passenger transport. Inhabitants of the capital and its guests in the presence of such lines, it will be much easier to get to the metro station, to remote areas of the metropolis or, perhaps, even to satellite cities.

What is a high-speed tram

What is this type of vehicle and how can it be convenient? Speedy, according to SNiP, are those lines by which trams are capable of driving for an hour more than 24 kilometers. The main features of such highways include:

  • Isolation from traffic and pedestrian crossings (full or partial).
  • Very long distances and a limited number of stops. In the projects of the Moscow lines between the latter, a distance of not less than 700 meters is provided. For comparison: the bus from the stop to the stop rides about 300-400 m.
  • The use of tram trains is at least 28 meters long.

The high-speed tram in Moscow, according to the projects, will fully comply with all these standards.

Advantages of a high-speed tram

The construction of the line of this relatively new type of transport in Russia is seen by the Moscow authorities as a very good alternative to the metro, buses and trolleybuses. According to the Administration, high-speed trams will make travel around the capital much more convenient. This type of land transport combines the best qualities of both metro and buses. Its main advantages are:

  • High speed of transportation. 24 km / h is only the lower threshold of movement of such trains. In practice, trams of this variety can travel at a speed of up to 80 km / h. With a decrease in the number of stops, travel time is further reduced.
  • The construction of a high-speed tram line costs 10 times cheaper than laying a subway line of the same length.
  • This type of transport is considered more convenient than the metro. After all, passengers do not have to go down to earth. The bandwidth of his ability is not much different from the same metro indicator.
  • A high-speed tram, which in practice is actually quite high in practice, does not even have any problems when driving in ice and snow (unlike buses and trolleybuses).
  • Since transport of this kind does not depend on traffic jams, it never deviates from the developed traffic schedule.
  • An important advantage is that this type of vehicle is environmentally safe.

Disadvantages of light rail

There are practically no minuses for this type of transport. Some disadvantages can be attributed only to the need to build a separate cloth, which significantly increases the width of urban highways. An additional burden on urban electricity networks can also indirectly be attributed to the minuses of such transport as high-speed trams. However, since such compositions do not consume too much energy, this deficiency is not considered particularly serious.

Line to Biryulyovo

According to the project, this new highway in Moscow will be designed to transport about 150 thousand passengers a day. The tram routes of this line will pass from the metro station "Prazhskaya" to the western and eastern part of Biryulyovo. According to preliminary data, the time of travel of residents of this area to the "subway" will be reduced by about 30%. If now the Biryulyans have to get to the "Prague" 70-85 minutes, then with the launch of a high-speed tram for the road they will spend no more than an hour.

The total length of this line will be 8.2 km. Part of it (2.1 km) will pass along the overpass. It is assumed that the trams will be walking with a periodicity of 4-6 minutes. Their average speed will be 25-28 km / h. The time from the final stop to Biryulyovo to the station "Prazhskaya" will not exceed 10-12 minutes. The project provides for the arrangement of only ten stops (at a distance of 800 m). One of them will operate on the overpass.

Initially, it was intended to loop one of the lines in West Biryulyovo. However, the locals expressed their objection and the draft was revised.

Line to the Ivanovo area

This is another project approved by the Moscow authorities. This line of high-speed tram will connect the Ivanovskoye area and the metro station "Shosse Entuziastov". According to the project, its length will be about 6.5 kilometers. Stop tram on the route will be six times.

The construction of this line will improve the transport services of 80,000 residents not only of Ivanovo, but also of Perovo. The line will be calculated for about 105 thousand passengers daily. To the metro, residents of the districts after starting the line will reach 30-40 min less.

Line to North

This route is also planned to be adopted in the near future. The length of the line North - the platform "Lianozovo" will be about 5.4 km. There will be five stops along the route. The average speed of the tram, as in the previous cases, will be 25-28 km / h. On the way, residents from the initial station to the final station will spend about 11 minutes. In a day the route can take a load of 50 thousand people.

Line to Medvedkovo

From the station platform "Lianozovo" will be laid another branch to the metro "Altufevo." Further ways will extend to Medvedkovo. Below is a diagram of a high-speed tram from the area of Severny to Altufievo and then to Medvedkovo. Thus, the fourth draft of the route is a continuation of the third. That is, after they both are realized, from the station "Medvedkovo" it will be possible to reach up to the Severny district.

High-speed tram and housing prices

Residents of those areas where such routes will be laid, most likely, will receive another advantage. According to experts, in these parts of the city the cost of square meters will increase. Of course, the price increase will not be as noticeable as when building, for example, subway lines. However, the trains of high-speed trains can increase the cost of housing in Biryulyovo, North and Ivanovo quite significantly.

Actually the routes of trams of all the lines were developed taking into account the wishes of the inhabitants of those regions where their laying is planned. So in any case, this mode of transport will be the most convenient, reliable and also very inexpensive.
